MAC Strength Collection Discussion (December 2012)

Thank you, Detective Naynadine. I'm definitely interested in the Taupe and I am also eyeing the Poise. They look to die for.

Well, the Taste Temptations mattene is described as "vivid purple" and the Strength lipstick is in the book as "bright violet". Mattenes are usually sort of a creamy matte, while the one in Strength will most likely be one of the new mattes, which ought to be not too drying, but won't be quite as moist as a mattene.

My MA seemed to recall the mattene as being rather close to Potent Fig, but I'm assuming it will be a little lighter than that one. The Strength one is close to Heroine (how close, it's hard to know, but it's not particularly bluish).

Unless the mattene is exactly like Potent Fig (which I love and have a BU of), I'll probably get both, d'oh.

Oh, one last thing about dark mattenes - they tend to be a little fussy to apply. The lipstick will definitely be easier in that department and will have a little better staying power when worn.

Thanks for all the info! Heroine and Potent Fig are definitely very different from one another, and I don't have a huge purple l/s stash yet, so it looks like I'll probably be picking both of these up! MAC is really hitting it out of the park with these winter collections -- everything sounds gorgeous!

I agree....ES is super pretty too and I have been using it a lot since I got it.

Especially on my cheeks because it is such a lovely base.
BTW I have tried as a base for Wordly Wealth and I love it.I wish I had a deep purple CCB for blushes like WW!
I might try chromaline deep purple but this should way too much.....too opaque LOL

Which blushes do you recommend with ES? I haven't opened mine yet. I also have Bat Black, but I don't know how to use it.

I think the brown blushes will go really well with the purple lippies!

I use it as a base for all my pink blushes and of course for lavender blushes like Full of Joy or Sakura.

ES gives pink blushes a (more or less) purple/lavender hue and I really like that!

It is also very nice as a base for Azalea Blossom and Whisper of Gilt.

I don' t have Bat Black but if it is lip safe I would use on my lips!

I forgot....you can also use it (and all the other CS) as a base for MSFs of course!

Did you get Star Wonder?It looks very nice over ES too.

I'm interested in the blushes and PP l/s., but that's all. I think I'll be escaping the winter collections mostly unscathed, which is good because I did NOT do that with MM and GD!
