In regards to returns what is even grosser and sadder is (and this may stir a little) MUA's that use drugstore products in their kits, the poor clients who aren't aware of bacterias, packaging etc, paying to have their makeup done and then having this crap potentially give them diseases!!!!

I PERSONALLY believe that if your marketing yourself as an MUA you need to be using professional products, there is a time and a place for NYX etc and it ain't in a makeup kit that is being used for photographic makeup!!!

I like the red-based bronzers you recommended; I have pretty strong yellow tones and I found Nude on Board too yellow even for me. It didn't look nearly as natural as Sun Dipped on me.

I'll check out Refined Golden and see how I like that; I don't love the glitter in it but I'll have to try it and see how much translates to the face. Given that these are both yellow-based bronzers, I won't be able to pass RG on to my cool-toned daughter (what I'd planned on doing with the bronzer if I didn't like it - put it into an empty Blot Powder case for her).

I really like the compact, but if I don't like RG and it's too yellow for my daughter then I'll likely skip.

BTW, just ordered Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 45 for the summer; I'm hoping it will help keep me from tanning. I can't apply more sunscreen over makeup and my sunscreen/BB cream won't last all day. I think this is the product you recommended; am I remembering right?
It's definitely more a summery bronzer due to the glitter. It's subtle, but still noticeable. It might not be office-friendly though (glitter!).

Yup. It's great for SPF touch ups. I don't like the bristles though, but you can refill it in a travel jar and use your fav brush (that's what I do).

Glitter is a non-starter for me. Since when do tans sparkle? Glitter isn't office or 40-something friendly. When I want glow, I add it separately only where I want. I think this will be a skip.

I'd read that the brush on the SPF powder isn't great. I have plenty of empty travel containers; it's a good thought to swap out the packaging. Thanks!

Bah, I think that means the compacts are a skip for me. Well I knew that was likely, they're bronzers and I'm NW10 so it was always a faint hope there'd be something that would work on me. I still want to the compact, but I can't honestly justify buying a product I'll never use just for that. Unless I just think of it as a mirror compact and ignore the fact that there's supposed to be any product in it at all!

I am with you, jennyap!

I really wanted a compact but have absolutely no use for the product that' s inside of it.So I' d rather skip it and save the money for NW-friendly stuff.

Yes, it was said a good while ago that these are just regular bronzers, not PLW or other stuff.
My bad!

I didn't see color names so I was just trying to share info I hadn't seen. Props to our fellow Specktraettes who already got it on lock!

I figured that out and put the "glitter warning" in my post. I guess the idea is that it will reflect the light when you are outside. It does look nice depending on the skin tone and occasion. Personally, I prefer matte bronzers too.

Re the container: I didn't mean the regular sample jars and/or travel container, but the loose powder travel container. They are d/c-ed, but if you are lucky, you still find them at CCOs (usually the ones that don't get too much traffic). Here is a pic (sample jar for size comparisons). HTH

I've never seen those before - they look great. I won't be able to track one down, but I have an empty sample sized jar from MUFE HD powder that would work.

No prob! There was an IG pic that revealed the other bronzer's name, so it was not difficult to guess the other one. Good that you were able to confirm!

Me neither!

They kinda remind me of the Pearlizer Sheer Pigment jars.

Regarding the issue of return policies, I'll keep my thoughts brief since I think we can all agree that it's great being able to return things that don't work for you, but we can also agree there are people out there who abuse lenient return policies shamelessly. I could share stories, but I won't. What I will say is that the people I truly feel bad for in these situations are the sales associates/makeup artists. SAs for many brands in department stores work on commission, so those returns are money out of their pockets (and they really don't get paid much to begin with). Then there are brands like MAC, who don't work on commission in most locations, but their jobs depend on making their goals from day to day, week to week. And when people return things, that money gets deducted from how much product they sold. Now, if the SA/MA gave you the wrong thing or you had a reaction to it after using it once or twice, things like that are by all means valid reasons to return. But with things like snatching up LE items the second you see them since they sell out quickly (which I understand) or buying products after a makeover just to return them the following week so you could get your makeup done without spending a penny (which I don't understand), no matter what your feeling is on what's fair in a return policy, it's the SA/MAs who get screwed over. I can't speak to the companies' losses, but as some people have said, you know the people high up the ladder are making the big bucks regardless, so I'm not so concerned about them. It's the little guys, the SA/MAs, who I feel really get the short end of the stick in these situations as the unfortunate souls stuck in the middle of it all. Maybe I just feel that way because I've been there, but that's my two cents.

In AA related news, I know some MAC artists are going to update this week, so hopefully we'll have that color story soon!!!

I am NAC15/20 and I adore refined golden. I will be buying it for the third time
I also love sundipped. I like my bronzers warm toned
And I have to disagree on the glitter int he refined golden - it does not really transfer on skin, or barely. It is not glittery bronzer at all.

Good to know. I will try it in the store - I'm glad it's a perm colour for that reason.

Hey all so here is what I know about the compacts they are bronzers (obvi) but they are perm colors, were looking at golden and refined golden. No color story but now we know. Thank you to a lovely little bird out there!!!!!

Thanks for the info!
Golden it is then. I looked up some swatches and it looks great on fairer skintones. I'm wondering how it compares to Soft Sand.

I agree with Monsy - I have & love Refined Golden & I don't really care for bronzers. There's no sparkle residue on the skin. If there was I wouldn't own it.

Its great for fair skin
Excellent! I do want the compact but didn't want to just throw away what was inside. Maybe I'll pop by MAC on the weekend so I can check out RG afterwards in natural light.

it can swatch really dark on the hand but it's not when applied nicely with the brush
