I so know what you speak of of stores in other countries and being less then kind. Truly we in the States are pampered. I remember being in Europe and trying to return something. I was told, honey you are not in the US now. We don't accept returns unless there is a manufacture defect. Doesn't matter if it has never been touched.

US customer is pampered and very spoiled. Since I've lived most of my life in EU you can't return sh*t even if it's their fault you still have to struggle fight and argue to return/exchange

It's quite easy to return non-beauty stuff in the UK, some stores have strict policies against returning cosmetics and underwear but not all of them. However, in my home country, it's almost impossible to return anything, I'm scared to even try.

Yes. We can't return cosmetics.

I think I returned a polish once a long time go (Chanel Peridot) but it was the very next day and I didn't use it. It might have been a total fluke because every time I buy something now I'm told 'we don't accept refunds'.

It pisses me off that they open the product to see if everything is alright with it. It especially pisses me with mascaras, glosses and cream shadows. Especially mascaras. What if they opened them before? Urgh. I once bought four New Looks on clearance (50% discount) and she wanted to open all of them. I was like, you for real. It's the same everywhere. More times than not, I say 'don't open them' now. They got all 'what if its defective'. I told one once 'I just won't come here anymore' and just left.

It's fine that we can't return because more times than not, people who return products have already used them and then they go back in the shelf to sell to another fool. I agree with the corportions that its neither good for them or for the final custommer. But them opening the products just pisses me off. Why don't they ask if I want to see if everything's alright? Why do they open makeup like that.

It just pisses me off.

I don't mind too much that they open the cardboard box to see that what is inside is what is supposed to be inside, but BE CAREFUL with it! I don't only buy makeup to use, but also to collect, and especially with special editions, I want to have a "pristine" cardboard box. They tore up the cardboard of my Givenchy Croisiere, and it wa sthe last one, so I couldn't have another. Was not too happy about it...

I think she is talking about the product itself, not the cardboard box, which is unacceptable but I've seen it happening

Well you have to open the box in order to open the product... She tore it up because she was the most unelegant *censored* who has no manners in opening stuff. Oh well, I survived

It's as mkoparanova said. They open the product itself. It pisses me off especially when I'm dealing with my wallet and I'm distracted enough to remember to tell to DONT DO IT.

The cardboard boxes sometimes are ruined. It once happened and since I don't care about those, I didn't ask for another. I totally understand people who want them intact though.

I usually open the box and check the product myself before the SA has a chance to do it, but I'm happy to have it checked in the store. I hate to come home with a lipstick that's broken (it has happened) or an eyeshadow with a dent in.

We cannot return cosmetics in my country either (unless it has been sealed), and like SlugPower I am rather happy we can't. I don't think they just throw the returned cosmetic away, and I'd hate to buy a lipstick that had already been tried (however carefully) by another costumer.

For that reason, I am not a big fan of having makeovers at counters (I know, I just had one at Dior, but alas). So many people manipulate those testers, brushes are not always cleaned, ... As I think of it, I know now why my face broke out last week... My favorite makeup store is a "niche" store. They don't really like you putting your fingers in/ on their testers. When they do makeovers, it's always with freshly cleaned brushes, mascara wands for one time use, ... If you want to try out a colouron your hand, you receive a cotton ball or Q-tip or... so that everything stays nice and clean. LOVE it! But the only makeup brands sold are Jane Iredale and MUD.

These are leftovers from Holiday 2014 or 2013. The packaging matches exactly what I purchased back then. Good way to get rid of obsolete inventory.

Bring your own brushes. I have mine in cases with locks since I travel so much. I make them slice the top off any lipstick, I use my own mascara.

I have a question hopefully someone will be able to answer without me having to treck to the Dior counter again. The Diorshow Khols are limited edition or permanent? If some are limited and others are pemanent, which are the colours where they're limited? I didn't expect to like them, but I tried them the other day, and I've been thinking about them a bit. I have a few from MUFE, but they're all waterproof so they don't budge much, while the Dior's smoke really well.

The Silver Smoke is an LE, the rest are not. The summer collection, the teal one might be LE, I do not know that for sure. The Silver Smoke may still be found. I was interested in Smoky Grey and and Silver Smoke. The other three are good enough, but not a prioroty. So I'll get the two that I want now and the rest later. Thank you so much.

Classy - but then they are not true exclusives, as other stores might have lingering old stock too!

In the old days, Dior in Australia would sell old stock at reduced prices - they stopped doing it many years ago.
