Dior Cosmetics Discussion

So true I haven't purchased a Dior quint since Bonne Etoile, everytime i'm swatching a new palette in a store it is just a powdery mess! :snooty: Not good Dior!
Also can we talk about all those relaunch of their lipstick line every 2 years?!!?

I'm not against reformulations per se, because it's good to be up to date to new ingredients, etc. What I'm against is why some great colours or things are discontinued, and / or having to look for a new collection every few years. Because that's what always happens.

I'm not a makeup junkie, when I was young I bought different brands but right now I don't have time for any of that. I usually stick with Dior and now some MUFE. That's about it. I don't want to get to the store and see that what I'm used to has changed dramatically every year. When I want something new, I look in the seasonal collections.

That revolving madness, it was the same feeling I had when I still bought MAC. It's just annoying.

Well, considering the numbers and colours..

Permanents:
156 - Femme Fleur for 357 - Magnify > It seems like the same palette as 156, only switches centre with bottom left, and since there is another 356, it must be a typo.
276 - Carré Bleu for 277 - Defy > It seems mostly the same, but removes top right and introduces a darker colour.
566 - Versailles for 657 - Expose > It seems the same, but removes the bottom left (silver) and introduces a copper one.
646 - Montaigne for 647 - Undress > It seems the same, quite old one as it existed already in the 90s, it was always very popular.
796 - Cuir Cannage for 797 - Feel > It seems the same, performed well and it was very popular.

Limited Editions
066 - Smoky Sequins for 067 - Provoke > It seems the same but switches all slots. This is a very good choice, this was an excellent palette.

Never seen that combo before:

357 - Electrify > ... What is the point, there is an already blue palette...
767 - Inflame > Well, the name and it looks like Sundeck... If that is a nude-brown and the centre is orange I am sold.

What is those weird ones on the bottom? There are a few which have the "same" numbers but don't look like them at all.

It removes:

096 - Pied-de-Poule > I recall reviews weren't good. Many complained it didn't perform well and all the colours were almost the same. A negative is that there is no "black" eye palette anymore (in comparision, there are tons of brown ones).
456 - Jardin > It was met with mixed reviews, some said it performed well, some say it didn't. I personally liked it a lot. A negative is that there is no green eye palette anymore (in comparision, there are two blue ones).
566 - Versailles > Not sure if it's the same as 657 without the silver, but persinally I thought this was lovely.
676 - Candy Shock > It loos cute on the pan but... yeah.

Well, it it's like this, it's not bad... I think...

Thanks for posting! I do think the new quints are a far cry from the old ones. The color combinations are all warm and muddy looking to my eye.

Either the lighting is bad (and therefore, the photographer did it bad) or they don't look pleasing to the eye.

Thank you very, very much for posting!

The yellow quint in the big picture is a novelty, but only the very warm skinned persons can get away with it. I love the idea though.

I wonder why both summer quints had to be brown. I had hoped for a burgundy, red, pink eyeshadow.

The purple quint is not nearly as elegant as Femme Fleur.

The blue looks okay for summer. I might buy it - in lack of something better.

colors and especially color combos
very disappointing

I like the colours in the last two.
I'm still waiting to be wowed by a combo of design and performance by Dior; I'm waiting for that must-have palette.
I liked Skyline and Splendor but it was a skip

Great! Thank you for posting! :)

I think there're too many browns, and some of the color combinations look confusing a first sight, but all in all I like them! I hope they'll make some cooler palettes along the way. Dior has always been a safe haven to cool blondes, and I'd hate to se that go.

Electrify is a sure winner, and so is Shock. Dream could be very interesting in the flesh.

Oh, and Fascinate is a fresh take on khaki. It's not for me, but I like the color combination a lot. :)
