It's really all in what you order. A nonfat beverage with the right fixings isn't that bad.

And honestly, who REALLY needs a triple venti extra foam heavy caramel double syrup caramel mocchiatto??

I threw up a little in my mouth even typing that. :/

that's why sodas and white bread and things we think are okay, like bagels.. not so much. i hate drinking water sometimes so check out vitamin water - love the stuff!

tart: basically, yes. the serving info on the back of packaging is based on FDA stuff and a 2000 cal diet, so it should be adjusted for you personally. your fruit/veggie calculations were pretty accurate. check out www.nutritiondata.com, they have some really good info on that type of thing.

Your best bet with flavoured or enriched water is to make your own brew - add a good squeeze of lemon juice to your water, or use a small bit of low-sugar/low-energy light cordial. My partner grinds up his daily vitamin/calcium tablets and makes water suspensions - a common trick in the navy, it means they're more likely to get their daily vitamins this way, as whole tablets can be easily regurgitated should they get seasick.

just as a side note - http://vitaminwater.com/ - most/all the vitaminwaters have 13g sugar. i prefer them not so much because the vitamins are TEH MAGIC - their actual effects are probably negligible - but because they taste fab, and they're not full of sugar/salt/etc. like you said, most are. and when i'm drinking tea or whatever it's not the same - i want something thats more water than juice. vitaminwaters arent as sweet as most of the "flavored" waters out there. it's a good idea to make your own, but i hate lemon water

I think you did such a great job on this post but I would want to point one very important thing out. Ive been dieting for over a year to get healthy and one thing Ive learned about Juice is that it does not equal one fruit. You are much better off just eating the apple then drinking apple juice. The reason behind this is that it takes a lot of apples to make that one cup of juice and thats why juice is so caloric. On my diet juice can be two or even three times more caloric then its one fruit equivalent. Talk about confusion! Other than that , a lot of really great information.

For those of you on a diet trying to loose weight; go for a 45 minute powerwalk on an empty stomach (or a glass of water or black coffee) first thing in the morning 5-6 times a week. Eat your breakfast afterwards, this is a great way to boost your metabolism and burn fat.
