Does anyone have any advice when choosing birth control?

I'm sexually active and I'm under 18. My mom keeps pushing me to get an IUD for birth control, but I'm so scared of the procedure and the exam that I'd rather look for an alternative. What are your guys' experience for birth control? Is there anything that I should keep in mind when choosing my method of birth control?

I have the copper IUD. I really like the fact that mine doesn't have to be replaced for 10 years and it's non-hormonal. Having said that, I found the procedure painful and my periods are definitely heavier. I would get it again though.

Any contraceptive must be selected by your doctor! I like the ring NovaRing. This is quite convenient than drinking pills every day at the same time, but it costs more.

As far as I know, UID it's not recommended for nulliparous women, but it's better to ask your gynecologist about that. I'm using prescribed birth control pills, though I also use ovulation kits and pregnancy tests as Easytobemom advised, I think you should do that too with any type of birth control you're using just to be sure everything's fine.

Girls, it's essential to consult a doctor and choose the best birthcontrol method for yourself. You have to understand that self-treatment has side effects and may be harmful. Everyone's body is unique, there is no guarantee the same methods are suitable for both.
