MAC Foundation for flash photography

So I semi-recently started using MAC Pro Longwear Foundation. Pretty much all other foundations made me appear white/yellow...except for the over Maybeline FIT, which I appeared totally normal but didn't get the coverage I wanted. So I started using Cover FX, and Urban Decay, all of which appeared white/yellow in pictures. I had never had this issue before so I asked someone and they stated that it's because I use a moisturizer with SPF, I thought it was weird because I have used the same foundation for years and never had this issue. SO I switched to a non SPF moisturizer and purchased MAC's Pro Longwear foundation all of which I was told had no SPF and that I wouldn't get "ghost fasce", but I still have the same issue, my face is bright yellow and I really feel like giving up. I can't seem to find a professional long wear makeup that doesn't make me look ghostly. As lame as it sounds I feel a little stressed, and like giving up. But I joined this site in hopes of finding help, and advice. I don't have to use MAC I was just told I would love it, and I do...but I can't take flash pictures with anything but my walmart makeup haha :((( I would love any advice, please and thank you!!!!

Another thing that can cause flashback is if you use a foundation that isn't your true match. If it is light (even slightly), it can cause that white cast.

Try MAC Face and Body or Make Up Forever HD Foundation.

I never have received flashback with either of those foundations and I regularly wear a moisturizer with 30 SPF.

Do you use a finishing powder with your foundation?

The foundation is actually a little darker than my complexion, I got it when I was a little more tan (I know a big no no lol) it's not off too much but I can try those. I do not use a finishing powder, only urban decay makeup setting spray.

Oh okay - just get a sample of those and try them out. Try getting the two shades that would suit you best and see how they look.

Yes Defintely!!!!! Just tell them your issue and ask for a sample. You can get samples at Sephora too.

I will never buy a foundation without first getting a sample and trying it out for a couple days.

Yeah I paid $80 for cover fx and my face was soooo yellow even without flash haha, so I will be doing that from now on. Glad I started this thread lol. Fingers crossed I find something!

(I moved this to MAC Recommendations, mainly because of the thread title.) SPF ingredients don't cause white cast in photographs. Fillers do. The yellow cast is likely because the foundations didn't match you properly, so made you look jaundiced in the photos. What shade did you wear in Fit Me? And what shades did you match yourself to (or were matched to) in the other foundations you tried? (Edit) I can't believe I didn't think of this, being into photography. Before you photograph yourself wearing these foundations, do you calibrate your camera's white balance settings for the lighting? Under certain artificial lighting conditions, if you don't adjust your white balance, colours will shift toward yellow. This mayhave nothing to do with your foundations at all. It may be your camera settings. Try your existing foundations again, but tweak your camera's white balance settings first (if you don't know how, read your camera's manual) before photographing yourself.

I wear 120 in FIT and the MAC artist fit me with NW20 its a little bit darker than my skin but not too crazy, it worked when I had a little tan. In Urban Decay I was matched 1.0 but it was a little light and didn't go well with my naturally yellow tinted skin.

Get the Camera+ app (in the US App Store, it's $1.99 plus tax, I think); it gives you a lot more control. :) And (at least IMO) it's easy to use. When you open the app, the white balance settings are in the bottom right corner. If your pro photos are good, then you'll know either way.
