I am thinking about buying a few NARS blushes...but first I have to know...do they test on animals? I hope the answer is no.

I did a search and couldn't find anything, but if there's already a thread in existence about this please feel free to point me in its direction.

Peta2.com and then i searched cosmetics...
I googled it and this is the only thing i could find, and it doesn't have NARS on the list for cruelty-free.

that sucks and makes me not want to buy from them again.

NARS dosent test on animals, but (like mac and 99% of mu lines) they do have some animal byproducts so they arent completely vegan.

i've researched this as well to make sure the makeup I buy isn't for animal testing...majority of companies do not do animal testing...I did read that Shiseido and also Max Factor still do animal testing.

so knowing that I can't buy from them

try sending them an email through their website. most companies will answer honestly if you outright ask.

ensure that you ask if any of their ingredients are tested on animals too - some companies claim "cruelty-free", but buy ingredients off companies that test those ingredients on animals.

I have been told they only test on humans.... Calvin Klein, Dove, Nivea, Covergirl, Shiseido, Ponds, Suave, Max Factor, Cearasil and Seabreeze continue to animal test. Bobbie Brown, MAC, Urban Decay, Maybelline. Lancome,Revlon, Body Shop, DHC, Burt's Bees, Avon, Eliz. Arden, Chanel, Christian Dior, Kiehl's, Estee Lauder , Pro Active, Tony and Tina, stila, and Prestige do not animal test. Wet and Wild has said they don't test on animals either.I am not sure about Merle Norman, MUFE, Laura Mercier, Smashbox or Becca. As far as I could find out NARS is vegan friendly and uses recycled materials although they do not have a recycling program like MAC. (OMG I would have so many freebies...and I do not work for the comapany, I am an ichi ban-no ka oi fan!!!!)

Nivea doesn't test, and Maybelline and Lancome do test, according to PETA.

The Body Shop is now borderline as they were bought by L'Oreal (who do test). I know a lot of people who now refuse to buy from TBS because it's owned by L'Oreal.

I got my list from Paula Begouin a couple months ago.....and from manufacturers-because I do call with medical concerns for people now and again......

Honstly, I am sorry the Body Shop was taken by L'Oreal. They used to be owned by a very eco conservative British group! I have participated in their HIV/AIDS fundraisers, etc. In the past, they have been quite humanitarian.

But there are company's who will say they do not test on animals. But they are reffering to the 'finished product'. Sometimes they can get away with testing products on animals and then saying they don't. I would like to know if anyone has found anything on Benefit or Maybaline?

NARS does NOT test on animals. However, shiseido won't allow NARS to make a statement b/c they are owned by shiseido and shiseido DOES animal test. But, their brushes are not synthetic. They do not test on animals but like most lines, they aren't vegan.
