On sale product in Sephora looks slightly used... Does anyone have any suggestions for how to clean it?

Hi, i recently bought a Kat Von D eyeshadow palette (angeles) from sephora and it was on sale for $15. I'm not really sure whether the product was used before, but it kinda looked like it because one of the shadows was pretty low in the pan and the box was all trashed. The colours were pretty nice though so i bought it anyway. But still, really don't want an an infection from it or anything... Has anyone had the same problem? Is there a relatively effective way of cleaning the shadows in the palette without totally messing them up and losing a lot of product?

Thanks a lot! :)

Hi

I dont think it is legal to put returned beauty products back for resale, used or not used. Not sure it this is not state- specific.
In every case I would return it.

I agree with the poster above me! If you have any doubts on the cleaniness of a product return it!

That makes me leary as well! I have never heard of Sephora selling anything that's been used or even tested.
If you are hell bent on keeping it, there is a company called Beauty So Clean that makes a great makeup disinfecting spray. However, I'm not sure that the good deal you got on this palette, once adding the cost of a disinfecting product, makes it such a great deal afterall!

But I do keep the disinfecting spray around. It is very useful in keeping your products clean. And awesome if you are a swapper of makeup.

Be cautious. And DO clean/disinfect that palette if you are going to keep it! I'd call Sephora Customer Service to do some research on this item.

Honestly, if you got this at a store i would bring it back. They should have damaged out any used product, especially one in which the packaging was trashed.
Go back and do an exchange. And i woudl ask to speak to the manager to boot, just so you know someone other than the cashier knows about the problem

I actually bought an Illamasqua Intense lipgloss once from a Sephora store here in South Florida. When I got home and opened the package it was obviously switched with a tester product. In this case I'm blaming shoplifters for this particular snafu. I took it back the next day and they apologized and replaced the product.
