My order today was as follows: Foreo Luna mini (my very first skin care device) NARS Turkish Delight lip gloss (wanted it foreverrr) Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Auburn (going red soon!) Not incredibly epic but I'm super excited for my goodies.

Okay, this is a tad off topic. How much do you girls buy drugstore stuff? I feel like I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to make-up.  I like my MAC and higher end brands likes NARS, MUFE, UD, etc/whatever. The thing is, when I was a kid -- drugstore make-up was AWFUL.  Truly awful.  I know it isn't now, I know a lot of brands are really churning out great quality items.. but I still can't get over it.  I think part of it as well, is that I can't afford to do high end AND drugstore.  It's one or the other.  I know I have easier access to drugstore, but I'd rather spend the money on the higher end item.  I'm also a big packaging snob.  I really dislike how cheap a lot of the drugstore packaging looks.  I know a lot of people don't like MAC, NARS etc packaging because it's so "black and boring" -- but I prefer it.  I prefer it looking sleek and chic. I've actually only ever bought one item from TheBalm and Benefit BECAUSE of their packaging looking so cheap/tacky to me.  I dunno.. I guess I just feel like if I'm paying a high price, I want more than just cardboard with a picture on it. I'm completely rambling, sorry about this.. It just crossed my mind that I prefer MAC and more Sephora brands than drugstore and wondered if I was alone in that.
I'm totally with you on how the quality was back in the day, I remember when Wet & Wild was awful (my grandma always loved their neon lipsticks though lol) and the original Jane cosmetics where literally every item was crap with no pigmentation etc. this isn't even *that* long ago as I'm 24. The quality has improved a ton over the years and I do own drugstore items (I love NYX) but at the end of the day I am a high end girl. 80% of my collection is high end. I just love the formulas so much better, I find that I have better wear from higher quality textures etc and yes the packaging is nicer and doesn't have UPC stickers that can be hard to pull off all over them. I also find that higher end brands have more unique shades which as someone with a big collection, I really appreciate. I like collections too, like well tailored, themed collections. Drugstore will have collections occasionally too but it'll be be 20 new lipsticks etc rather than a blush, a few lipsticks and a few eyeshadows that are made to compliment the other items

I don't know if I'd classify myself as a makeup snob per se. That said, I think I'm becoming more choosy in regards to makeup than I was, now that I'm getting a better idea of what works for me and what doesn't.

I pretty much buy high end, but not super high end. Audacious is as far as I'm willing to go in terms of price point. I need to return to drugstore mascaras, though. I'm not so sure the high end stuff is worth the hype anymore. I love the ones I've used, but I'm sure I can get the same effect with drugstore mascara.

Lately I've stopped buying drugstore. I'll buy a few lipsticks or mascaras here and there but the prices are getting close to a MAC lipstick now. I don't necessarily think one is better than the other. I just feel like when I go to the drugstore I ending buying a lot of things, whereas at Sephora I will buy a few things that I've researched several times to be 100% sure I want it. Drugstore is spur of the moment.

I get the bulk of my mascaras at the drug store. Loreal is doing somethings that are almost mirroring the higher brands as far as formula and brushes. I will not go without saying that I own a Chanel, YSL, or Armani mascara. I do. I'm just finding it hard lately to fork over $25+ for something I will most likely have to change out in about 3 months. Mascara is the only product that I follow the "rule" on. I will say though I never thought I would EVER pay $32 for a lipstick but those NARS Audacious Lipsticks are so worth the price point I can't help myself. Not even YSL could tempt me with their pretty packaging.

This. And I hate buying things and not using them, and I will reach for my high end stuff every time over drugstore. I like the fancy packaging, and the weight. I put on makeup for the joy of it, and the high end details really add to that experience. I agree about the mascara though. I usually buy drugstore mascara. Although occasionally I'll splurge.

I never buy mascara. I use my Sephora points to get them or receive them in GWP. I change them out religiously and this works well for me. The only high end mascara like ptoduct I've actually shelled out for is the Dior Maximizer primer; I see a big difference when I use that. I'm happy to have a sample ahead of me; i would hate dropping more than $30 four times a year. I wish I could purchase a mini size.

I agree, I only buy drugstore mascara. I'm never pleased with high-end mascara. But all the other makeup I buy these days are pretty much high-end.

I think the market has changed recently too bc of all the mid range Instagram and Indie companies that have energed like Dose of Colors, Sugarpill, etc like you can't really categorize those as drugstore or high end, or even companies like MakeupGeek and Morphe w cheap prices, they aren't drugstore though bc of how and where they're sold

I definitely agree with this.
Marleena's (MUG) prices are cheaper because she sells herself, she doesn't have to sell for example to Sephora or Ulta, or even CVS to sell her stuff. So she can sell for cheaper. But the quality is sometimes better than high end brands. I love everything she makes, the pigments and shadows.. amazing!
