Wow! I am stymied, because I have similar skin to you ladies and do not experience the oilies at all with the pressed Candlelight powder.

I will say this...my skin has undergone some changes with the changes in my skin care, so my oiliness of late is under control. I highly recommend the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum from Deciem The Ordinary...I swear it has shut down my sebum production and my skin is so much clearer. And I have been rotating a sample of the MUFE Step 1 Matte primer with what's left of my Becca Ever Matte. So that certainly has to be helping too.

By the by...The Ordinary will be offered at Beautylish some time very soon. I buy mine directly from Deciem. I totally digress though...I have a few loose Ben Nye powders I need to get through before I buy anymore...BUT I am seriously interested in the pressed powder from MUFE. @Ingenue left a nice little review in the MUFE thread.

Did you set with it or just as a finishing powder after setting. I live in the tropics... there's very little that keeps my little t-zone nice and under control lol! The life saver for me had been the Revlon Color Stay and Nearly Naked foundations. The latter they completely axxed... why, I don't know. The former they reformulated, made my shade darker and added glitter to the formula... not flattering. Again, why, I do not know. The formula was perfectly fine before except that I welcomed the pump in the newer bottle. *sigh* So now I'm on a mission to find another holy grail formula. I did like the Estee Lauder Double Wear and Double Matte but the shades I have are not quite my shade and they offer a bit more coverage than I've grown used to, especially since I've gotten rid of a lot of my hyper pigmentation (read sun aided discolourations) and old acne marks.

Hey lady...I actually had to think about this. I swear you and I are very alike except you live tropic and I live 4 seasons.

My hyper-pigmentation, despite high SPF and wearing hats when I am out in the sun, comes back full force in the summer. I tan no matter what. And unfortunately my face no longer tans evenly like it did when I was in my 20's...joys of aging...fffpppttthhhh!

I love my EL DW. It just stays put and boy does it last! Good stuff! However, I too struggle with shade matching. I think I get it right and then I don't...lol

Okay, the setting question. I just added the Tarte Shape Tape concealer to my routine for the center of my face & under eyes. Before I do the rest of my face, I gently set that area with a loose powder and a puff. I reach for my loose Ben Nye Banana powder the most. I also have a loose no color Mehron and MUFE UD that I rotate.

Then, I usually do the rest of my face with bronzers/contour, blush & highlight...these are all powder products...so in essence I think they also help "set" my face.

THEN once my eyes are done, I reach for an over-sized powder brush (my fave right now, until I can afford a bougie Japanese brush, is the giant IT powder brush) and the pressed LM Candlelight powder...I use just a dusting. When I am completely done futzing with my face, I set it with a setting spray. Everything pretty much stays put for up to 12 hours...I may have a tiny bit of break-through at about the 7-8 hour mark. I just gently blot. I am no where near the oily mess I was last year at this time...I think I tend to be a bit more oily in the summer months. I'll have to see if things have changed for this summer.

Of course under all that is a hydrating, blur primer just for under/around eyes, a smoothing primer for full face & a mattifying primer for t-zone...so I am sure that contributes to controlling oil as well.

Sigh...we do so damn much in the name of a beat face!

Tell me about it.... the struggle to keep it together calls for a village of products lol. I usually wear liquid foundation since I don't quite get the coverage I want with just powder. But I'm working on my skin so I wouldn't have to focus too much on covering up marks. I'm going to look into those products you suggested earlier. Thing is, my skin is weird. It either cooperates or it doesn't. I'm still trying to zero in on what is in my diet, or what my diet is lacking, that makes me more oil producing at some times vs others.

The reason I really like the EL DW and the Revlon Color Stay is that I could skip primer and be good for at least 8 hours and then I'd just have to blot and go. My forehead does not like consistent use of primers. If I wear any for more than 2 days in a row, I start to get little breakouts... no bueno! I do have some Ben Nye powders, as well as the RCMA setting powder. I think I either have that Mehron no colour or the Ben Nye no colour one as well. I'll start incorporating them next week and see if they really help. I've heard good things about that MUFE HD one too.

Highlighted because the struggle is real and shared! Skincare became a real focus of mine over the last year for exactly the same reasons...I would love to be able to just tap a little concealer on, put on a lil liner & mascara and call it good! My skin confidence is low more so on some days than others, for various reasons (some dry scaling of areas, redness, hyper-pigmentation, breakouts...ugh!).

So, I figured investing some time and effort into working with the "canvas" was the way to go. I wish I had started much much sooner! It's trying to be reasonable about cost, that is the hard thing...I really really burn if I pay top dollar for a skin product that does bupkis, zip, nada, zilch!

I stumbled upon Deciem's NIOD, Hylamide and The Ordinary lines quite some time ago, long before Wayne Goss and Beautylish jumped on board. I list them in that order from most expensive to least...and there are good products in all three lines. And luckily what I have been using so far, seems to have made marked improvement on texture, coloration, pores, oil, clarity, etc. of my facial skin. I keep dreaming for the day, I can just conceal, line and go!

Deets: Called The Coverage Foundation and The Serum Foundation, launches March 27th & there are 21 shades in both lines. The most awesome thing is the pricing is drugstore! Around $7.50 per. That is price point I am not afraid to try a few shades. High hopes!
