I need lipstick storage inspiration

Help me! I'm desperately searching for lipstick storage. I'd like something with a sort of grid, so I can keep lipsticks upside down (label showing), each one in their own compartment. Something like this:
Lipstick Organizer
It just sucks that in Canada we can't buy all sorts of weird things online very easily.

I've been thinking of making his cardboard divider and just putting it into a pretty box.

I use the smaller compartment for lipsticks, I can fit about 20 in one I think? Unfortunately i just packed my makeup up from there this morning since we're having an open house and I didn't want my MAC stolen!

I saw that at my ikea recently, I was considering it. thanks for the link

May I ask, which smaller compartment? The rectangular ones, or the little squares? I'm interested in this, but my small drawers are only a little over 2 3/4" high.

Actually...nuts, 14" is probably too big.

They're the little square ones. The long rectangle also fits MSFs perfectly!

StarrySim i noticed you are in Toronto too! Have you tried Kitchen Stuff Plus? They have some great stuff there. I know they don't have the ones for just lipsticks but i buy these clear plastic square containers for all my lipglosses and lipsticks. For the glosses, i got the one that measures 4" x 4" ($3.50-$4) and i think its 3/4 the size of a MAC lipgloss so they do stick out a bit at the top but all cram in nicely and stand up. I think i can fit over 20 or so glosses in there. For the lipsticks, i bought these smaller ones that are 3" x 3" (either $3 or $4) and a small part of the lipstick sticks out so i can see the label perfectly. I think i'm able to cram about 12 lipsticks in there and they stand nicely when they are packed in. The best part is they have these little rubber grips at the bottom so they don't slide either! I just need to buy another because i bought more lipsticks too! They also have some longer containers which are great for MSF's or anything else! There was also a caddy style thing for your countertop that spins, one with a few lipstick slots & other compartments and i got a clear 3 drawer container ($12) too but i think i may put some jewelry in it. I'm going to try to post pics here soon!

I've been wanting something for my lipsticks too...

this is what I've been considering doing: taking a box about the height of a lipstick and whatever width and length you'd need it. Then sticking a block of foam in there the same size of the box. Then punching out holes and sticking the lipstick into each hole. I was hoping there was something like this already made but I havent seen one. I hope I described it right, but that way you can stick them in upside down and they'd be nice and snug in the foam and wouldnt move and clink around like they would in plastic

That's a good idea, but I think it would be a little too messy for the OCD in me

I'd love to find something like that pre-made - I work in a lab and we have styrofoam tube racks, but they're not quite the right size.

I ended up making Enkore's cardboard organizer - or my own version of it anyway. The cardboard I used is too flimsy, and I'm already out of space, so I need to make version 2.0 soon. Just thought I'd share.

As an MUA, have you considered using dental floss to remove the stick from the tube, scooping out what's in the bottom, panning that, and then carefully sticking the tube back in? I have a friend who's a makeup artist and that's what he does with his lipsticks.

Haven't done that but MAC used to sell lipmix palettes that could hold about 12 lipsticks, and I have three lipmix palettes so I decapitated some of my lipsticks, and melted them in the palette so they were nice and smooth...it works fine but they don't sell them anymore ;[ booo. I kind of don't like that idea anyway because I'd like to keep my tubes just the way they are. palettes look so cheesy i think

I actually rather like palettes, LOL! But we're talking about function over form here, right? Palettes are also easier to mix.

TKBTrading.com sells a ton of palettes that are really simple and cheap. Maybe those would work better?

If not, you could always slip some must-haves in a brush belt with uniform loops.
