This is the best way to depot! I've broken several shadows with other methods and with this method I was able to depot about 140 shadows and also 3 palettes of blushes. Great pics Thank you!

This is my favourite way to depot! When I tried it, I was a little scared, but once I got out my first e/s pan with no problem at all, I depotted 12 other eyeshadows with complete success

no chipping, breakage or anything!
The only thing I did was melt a piece of a mac bag becuase im a klutz and dropped the flatiron on it

I definitely recommend this method to anyone who wants to depot their e/s

I've been putting off depotting my shadows because I was afraid I'd mess it up. I finally broke down and tried this last night. It works like a dream. Thanks for the tip!

thanks so much for this tip. i got my m.a.c potted shadows in the mail yesterday and used the flat iron method to de-pott them today!!! worked so perfect and easy. just wanted to add that you don't have to wait untill you see the metal, just having the back plastic soft is good enough and don't leave the shadow on the iron too long or the shadow will start to crack and it will actually be much harder to pop out the metal pan...it will start to fuse together!!!

Dollarama sells thin rolls of magnetic tape now, which is what I bought (but haven't used yet)
previously I bought magnetic squares from Michaels
pizza and taxi advertising magnets work great too

Thanks so much for this. I used it and it worked perfectly. Does anybody know what size of magnets to get? I ordered 1/2" off of Ebay.

aww man, i have natural hair and no need to use the flat iron on my hair..lol but this seems to be wayyyyyy better than inhaling the cancerous fumes that i did the last time i depotted with the candle method. i may just invest in it for the hell of it lol thanx

THANK YOU so much for posting this tutorial!! It was so easy...and this is coming from someone who ruined two eyeshadows trying to use the hairdryer method. So...even a klutz like me can do it! I'll be heading out to MAC tomorrow to get some palettes!
