For anyone who has had a baby

This is a silly question, but I'm arguing with my husband right now. I'm due in 8 weeks, this is my second child. He's very scared I'm going to poop while delivering...LOL! I didn't with my first, and I'm wondering how common it is with women. He thinks it's more common, and I don't think it is. Thanks!

Did you poop while giving birth?

I don't have children, but I have heard that it's quite common.

But seriously, with all the bodily fluids and what not going on "down there", I don't think it's anything to fret about. Why is he scared?

Its funny you mention this as I was thinking about this on my sons half birthday (he's 18 months now). My BF and my sister said that i pooped while giving birth, but didn't tell me that till my son was like a month old! I kinda figured that I would since im diabetic and they let me eat a bit the day before i gave birth (i was induced) b/c my blood sugar was too low. Honestly hubby shouldn't worry about that .. there are so many other nasty things to be concerned about. Once he lays eyes on that baby nothing else will matter!

My best friend did when she was having her first baby. Her husband was really embarrased about it and everyone was telling him to stop acting so childish. I don't think it was a big deal with everything else going on down there at the same time.

hahaha this is hilarious.

I'm actually not worried about it. I'm scheduled to be induced and your not allowed to eat like 12 hours before. He's just worried about it because he's a guy and is silly...

There is nothing to be ashamed about if u do poop, my doctor said more than half of the girls go poop while pushing. In fact nobody will even remember or think twice about it.

I had a water birth for both pregnancies so i'm pretty sure i didnt poo, i know my mom did for all 3 of her kids.

You know what, I think it really bothered her husband cause he still brings it up almost 7 years later! She tells him to get over it

I am a bit puzzled over this. Here in Denmark it's standard, that the first thing they do when you get in to the delivery room is to give you an enema. I had that too when I was just starting to get into labour, and I don't think anymore came out during the process, but I am actually not sure, so many fluids of all sorts come out at that moment

But I did manage to vomit on the midwife

And I did somehow bleed on the oposite wall which was about 5 meters away. It ain't pretty giving birth

Is that a danish thing to get an enema when going in to labour?

they give you the enema so that you can poop before pushing, or during? i've never heard of that in the US

I didn't but I hear its very common. With all that pushing... if anything is in there, it WILL come out lol. Nothing to be embarrassed about. I don't understand how guys could worry about that, of all things, during labor.

They would understand if they were the ones going through that pain. I haven't had one but I've heard more women do it than not.

LOL! I was worried about that too.. but honestly, when the time came & i was in the hospital in labor, I didn't even remember/care about it. Even if you do, it's SOO common, the doctors & nurses will scoop it right up & not think twice about it.
