Don'ts! In Pregnancy

Baci-I'm due May 18th

I'm having a girl and I had absolutely no morning sickness ever! I have been so fortunate to have such an easy pregnancy..a couple of days ago the "uncomfortable" hit and I am ready! I shouldn't complain though since I had 36 weeks of completely easy. Maybe it's b/c I went through complete hell at this time last year with my ectopic

I had no morning sickness or any complications at all with my first girl, but this time around I had sickness...I've been uncomfortable since...gosh like 25 weeks. Sleeping is painful!

It's so interesting about sexes! Cos here the belief is that boys are the ones that bring on Bad morning sickness! But when my mom was pregnant with me she threw up from month 1 to 9. Oh well we'll see! Don't plan on finding out the sex, i want a suprise:) will try out the bitter sweets, at this point i'll do anything to reduce the nausea and vomiting:-(

Wanted to ask Will be tmi but how did you deal with the gas?! Am bloated and gassy like mad! I've tried extra water, doesn't help, smaller meals, still get it. HELP!!

^Tried to stay away from the foods that do that..like cheese, garlic, even milk. (not that I gave that up).

You can take baths as long as the water isn't so hot you are crab red when you are done. Doctors say ten minutes but I never did anything more than 20.

Actually you can go in a tanning bed. I went tanning all the way through my pregnancy. You just have to make sure you dont get overheated, and that you have the fans on

I didn't find anything to help with it. My fiance would be snarky about it, and I'd just say, "Yeah...if only you had anything to do with me being this way."

Just thought I would add the list of things I avoided when pregnant:

soft cheeses (brie, Camembert etc)
no deli counter items - high risk of listeria due to handling.
No cold meats
soft serve
alcohol
subway salads
super hot baths - the water shouldn't be higher than your body temp
seafood that had been thawed then cooked (risk of food poisoning) however everything apart from oysters was fair game if it was cooked after caught fresh.
Restrict large fish intake to once a week (mercury risk), however tinned tuna is fine to have in unlimited amounts as the smaller tuna is used for canning.
Anything that is kept in a bain marie in food courts etc is a risk as well as these may not be kept at the right temperature to stop the bacteria breeding.

I am sure there is more but these are the main ones that come to mind.

I heard camomille tea isn't allowed either as well as energy drinks like Redbull.

If you live on a farm, don't eat ungraded meat or fresh eggs either.

I found that taking a hot shower and sitting at the bottom of the tub was better than taking a hot bath - and no hot tubs!

And if you don't exercise regularly, don't start now just because you're pregnant. A walk for half an hour is pretty much the only increase you need.

Just a note about the meat and eggs from the previous post... Not sure what "ungraded meat" is, but in Australia the only issue with meat is if it's undercooked. If it's well done then it's fine in pregnancy no matter what the type.

Same with eggs in Australia - as long as they aren't runny then there is no issue with it. I would have thought fresh farm eggs would have been better for you but perhaps there is something I am missing here that is US/Canada only?

She's probably talking about a salmonella risk with the farm-fresh eggs that come covered in poop, where the factory farmed eggs are 'cleaner'. Not that it makes much of a difference once the egg is cooked.

Yes ^ that....

And...

Ungraded means - being from a farm - the meat doesn't go through the same inspections that store-bought stuff does. If I kill a chicken in my backyard, it might be less sanitary as they've come into contact with other livestock (including other possible illnesses, bacteria and diseases) that they wouldn't normally come across in a factory-run chicken farm.
