Buying collections

About how much money do you guys normally spend when you buy from a collection? Do you normally buy everything just to have?

nah I just buy the stuff I think I will use. Not that it doesn't add up to a lot though!! It depends on the collection but I usually spend between $50 and $100

Same here, I buy what I think I will use,as long as it's different enough from what I already have. Normally, it's what my eye goes to first. The most I have ever spent on one collection was $175, but my average is about $50. I am pretty sure my haul for Barbie will be a big one. If I get everything on my wishlist, about $150.

I'll buy as long as i like it...usually i tend to skip the lipsticks as i hate lipsticks..this is a list of what i have bought from the collection in the past year. I go anywhere from $220 to $340 ish. Although, I have spent about $600 on MAC in one month.

You know what's weird? I did the VERY same thing today and made a list of all that I bought from each collection in 2006! I realized that the longer I had been collecting MAC, the more I know what I will wear and what I won't. Most of the stuffI got early on, I swapped away because I hardly ever used it or it didn't look right on me. Here is my list:

This was really the beginning of my MAC experience, 2006. I may have missed an item or two. I started out being all about the eye makeup. Shadows and pencils. Then came the blushes, and later lipglosses and lipsticks. There are a lot of things I passed on that I regret now. I still don't own a single brush. I'm trying to be a lot more selective, so I'm a little scared about seeing the Icon collection tomorrow. And Barbie later. And I'm sure there will be more, and more, and more to come.

I normally buy all the eyeshadows in a collections. If there are any blushes that look interesting I buy one. Pigments I always buy one of each. Lipsticks I sorta avoid. MSF if it's in a collection again I buy one of each. I have to restrain from hoarding two of everything. I used to do that because I had a deep fear of loving something and never being able to find it again but that can run into heaps of money now I just do one of each!

Palettes I normally buy one of each. Shadow ones not lip! I purchased one each of the Holiday eyeshadow palettes.

It really depends on the collection. Something like Zhandra Rhodes and Rockocco I maybe got one or two things. The colors were just too bold for me. However, jewelescent, Danse and more than likely the Barbie collection I will really splurge on because I like the colors more. Most of the time I do get at least one item from a collection unless it is really not for me.

I only buy what I need. If I had a squillion dollars I'd probably buy everything for shits and giggles, but in the meantime I try to be a bit sensible about it.
