I am thinking about taking a vacation next month and heading up to Niagara Falls, Canada. Any suggestions? Places to Stay, Eat, Things to Do?

I am looking for a really nice place to stay, Did I mention it will be my 5 year anniversary.

Thanks.

You absolutely need to have some Ice Wine. It's famous from that region, and totally delish! Maybe you can even visit a vineyard or vineyard/restaurant type place.

Most of the "honeymoon" type hotels are kind of cheesy, on both sides of the border. You may have better luck getting a nicer room at one of the casinos; the food in the casino restaurants is also excellent.

Go down to Buffalo and get some wings! You can also stop at the CCO in the Niagara Falls outlet mall(American side).

Definately hit up the casinos

Fallsview Casino is beautiful and a great place to stay
There is a lot of walking around to do and tourist season will be starting so it gets really rammed.
Lots of places to see on Cliffton Hill which I guess you can consider the 'strip'

Places are opened very late and some dont close at all

There is TONS of hotels you can pick many offer "falls view" rooms

Fallsview is okay, but it might be pricey because it's the casino. You could also try the Hilton, Fallsview plaza, Embassy Suites.. all in that area. Canyon Creek in the Fallsview Casino has amazing food, and you can overlook the falls while you eat. If you're interested in "seeing the falls", you can go on the Maid of the Mist, and Journey Behind the Falls. The casino also has a great club, Dragonfly, if you're into that sort of thing. Clifton Hill is mostly cheesy - arcades, haunted houses, sketchy motels.. but there is are also some nice restaurants down there.. Boston pizza, Rainforest Cafe, Hard Rock. The Skywheel is also on Clifton Hill, if you like ferris wheels, you should go on that one! There's also some really nice restaurants on Victoria Ave/Ferry St.

If you're looking for anything specific, send me a pm

Clifton Hill is such a fun touristy place!! I used to love going there a lot when I feel like being five again, and all they asked at the border was, "where were you born? Okay, go ahead." lol

Casinos are fun, Buffalo had a new one put up a few years ago, and while you're there, check out the CCO!

The falls are really beautiful at night because they light them up, and sometimes they do special colors for special events!

The Butterfly Conservatory is kind of interesting because (well, IMO it is!) the butterflies are so beautiful and we never really get them in Buffalo.

There is also Niagara on the Lake (US, IIRC), though I've never done it, it supposed to be great, plus there are wineries there.

Though, overall, the Canadian side is much nicer. If the border wasn't so much of a hassel now, we would be going there so much more often!

Hope you have a good trip and anniversary!!
