MAC Half Lash Curler

Does anyone know if MAC sells refill pads for their Half Lash Curler or if any pads from other brands fit? The few online reviews I could find for this curler were all very positive, but I am a little fed up with the "replace pad after 6 months, replace curler after 12 months" sale strategy a lot of makeup brands seem to have, so it would be helpful to know if there are refills available for this one.

Thought so

... I went by a freestanding store to see if they stock refills, but I couldn't find any (I didn't bother to ask a SA since they are clueless about their inventory). My last hope will be the next time I visit a pro store. Or I could try a tip I read online somewhere which is trimming a non MAC pad to the size of their Half Lash curler pads...
