Tricks to make makeup last longer?

Hey guys,

at the weekend I'll attend the wedding of a good friend of mine. At the moment it's quite hot and humid over here, and to add to that, we'll have to leave really early in the morning while the ceremony will start in the afternoon. Naturally I'm worried about my makeup.

Normally my whole makeup lasts around ten hours on me - then foundation starts to settle into fine lines and pores, eyeliner smudges etc. But for this event I need it to last longer - around fifteen hours or so! I don't mind blotting or retouching during the event, but please share your tricks to make your whole makeup last longer! I'm thankful for any advice. Does Fix+ help with this, btw?

Thank you very much in advance!

Do you mean the fixing mist from MUFE ? Some are satisfied with it, others are not ! Maybe gently exfoliating + purifyng mask before ( not on the wedding day but just the day before ) ? Then the HD powder or a setting spray like the MUFE ?

Mufe, Clarins, MAC all make good setting water.. my favourite is Avene Eau Thermale.. bigger bang for your buck

I didn't know that I can use the Avene Eau Thermale as a setting spray! I normally use it just as a refreshing spray when it's hot!
Thanks, HG and Dominique!

... hi!

and yes you can .. all these sprays are just 95% water, some with other properties which might irritate skin.. Avene is great for setting creams, moisturizer, refreshing or after mu application. It's my fave cause there are no additives and I can get itchy skin with some of the other sprays.

Clinique has one too.. don't know if it's got some other additives which don't irritate.. err, so does PTR.

good luck.

How about a good makeup base? It's also really humid here in Singapore and with a good base you are set for the day.

I've had good luck using UD all nighter (or De-Slick if you need oil-control) to set my make up as well as a primer.

I totally forgot about primer! Thanks girls.

I absolutely have to try the UD one. I use MAC's P&P with SPF50 at the moment which honestly isn't that much of a primer but a very good sunscreen and that's why I chose it.

BTW, I love the Avene spray very much, but hated using Fix + over my MU. Itried it once and hated the sticky feeling it left on my skin. I still love it for foiling e/s though!

If you use a blush, take a mineralize one. Natural pigments wear longer. Moisturize your skin before applying your makeup and if you can use a serum ( and wait a while, an hour or so ) before doing your makeup. A primer will help for eyeshadows and lipstick but don't forget a lip pencil to get perfect lips for the wedding day.
Hope it was useful, hope the wedding party will be great !

ah no! mac fix + is NOT a setting spray- do not expect it to keep your makeup on longer, because it wont (nor does it claim to)....I also never use prep+ prime face protector as a primer either, from what I was taught working there it's not even a primer it's more of a skin care product... Not all the items in the prep+prime line are actual primers...I know it's confusing, but a lot of them are just skincare.... In my opinion here's what you need to do- make sure you use a primer... A face primer AND a separate eyeshadow primer. I personally use MAC prep+prime skin, and MAC paint pots. They do a great job. These will definitely help, but to last that long you will have to touch up.. I always tell people bring your setting powder, lip products, and eyeliner with you....And if you have room blush as well. Hope that helps :)

For me it starts with the start of the makeup application. I Moisturize and prime clean skin. Set my makeup by apply transculant powder with a sponge with a rolling motion. Then I used ud all mightier spray. Works for me
