I just interviewed for lancome inside Bloomingdales and found out that if I get hired I will be working directly for lancome not Bloomingdales , is that a good thing interms of money?? , am new for this industry so was wondering which is better to work for the department store or directly for the vendor when it comes to better hourly rate, commission and job stability , please fill me in with any info thanks

What kind of position is it? I have never worked for Bloomingdales but I haven't heard of Lancome being leased that way. Would you be a freelancer for Lancome or an Account Exec or Coordinator or a beauty advisor?

From leased brands in the retailers I've worked with, generally it can be better pay. But it also depends on your experience and what you're asking for.

Sorry, I'm no help.

It is always better to work for the brand than for the department store. Better pay

I had an option to work for a brand once and they couldn't pay me what my department store was already paying me. But generally, I think brands have looser rules and more flexibility than the store would have! And usually better pay! ;)

Well I asked some friends they also said it's generally better working directly for the brand interms of everything , it's a long interview process but I think it worth it,

It's very unprofessional of Lancome to waste my time , I had 3 in person and 2 phone interviews with 6 people for a beauty advisor position, the whole interview process took almost 2 months, after the third and final interview they didn't even bother to let me know what happened until I follow up with an email their response was "we will let you know sometime next week" mind you at this point I wasted almost 2 months of my time , anyway a week passed no response I reached out again , finally I got email saying "sorry we went with another candidate" not that am angry they didn't hire me but they could have decide that after the first in person interview, anyway I just wanted to share my experience incase if it helps anyone applying there and Lancome the hell with you , at the end of the day I don't want to work for a company that don't value me as a person ✌
