Working for Clinique

Re: Interview at Clinique at Sears in Canada

I worked for Clinique in the US and you will have to take out your piercings and cover your tattoos, which will be easy as you wear the lab coats and they are long-sleeved.

For shirts underneath your jacket, you can't have a shirt that doesn't touch your collarbone. So, think of a basic t-shirt. That's what you should use as your guideline. When you start, you obviously won't have your jacket but just wear a nice black shirt with no frills and black pants.

The jackets are not breathable AT ALL so wearing cotton t-shirts (or even a sleeveless shirt as you won't see it under the jacket) and pants are your best route if you are prone to being hot.

Clinique has a much more strict dress code policy. You must wear your hair up (if it touches your shoulders), only wear one set of earrings and they have to be silver or pearl, you can wear a watch but it should be silver so it matches the buttons on your jacket and only one ring on each finger. My Lancome neighbor would always tease us saying Clinique was a cult. lol

It sounds much worse than it is, I really loved working for them.

Does anyone remember the questions that they ask in the interview?? So far i remember these ones

Tell me about yourself.
What is good customer service?
What is better product knowledge or customer service?
How would you meet your sales goals on a slow day?
What do you know about the clinique brand?
Why do you want to work for clinique?

If anyone else remembers any questions they asked that would be awesome i have an interview at another Clinique counter, i went to an interview at a different one a week or so ago so i want to practice my answers to the questions since im sure they are going to be pretty much the same. Thanks!!

Clinique no more!

Well this week will be my last week working for Clinique. I still work for Macy's (unfortunately) but I transferred to Fragrances just since the holidays are coming up and I can make more money. I really don't know how to feel about it actually since I have been working for Clinique 3-4 years, I love them and all but I dunno I just felt like moving on. Have any of ya'll kind of felt semi heartbroken when you left your respected cosmetic line, and did you regret it later on?

Re: Clinique no more!

I don't work in your field (although I wish I did!) but I wish you the best of luck with your change! I hope you really like it! A change can really be refreshing - especially after several years.

Don't forget to give us the scoop on the awesome perfumes!

Brand New Clinique Beauty Advisor

Eek! I was just hired today by Macy's to be a full time Clinique Beauty Advisor. I'm excited but also nervous. I've never used any Clinique products before and I really don't know what to expect. Will I get any products to use or do I have to buy them? What kind of shoes does everyone wear? I've had a lot of office jobs and I've always worn heels. I'm thinking that I probably won't want to wear heels for this job though since I'll be on my feet all day. Any tips, hints, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Maggie

Re: Brand New Clinique Beauty Advisor

Congrats! I worked for Clinique for like 3-4 years! You will get product to use, you should receive your full size 3 step shortly along with your labcoat. And you do get a 'gratis' which is a certain amount they give you to spend to get all sorts of product. Also at seminars, and in the mail you will get product too. They take good care of their consultants so you got a pretty good line to work for! As far as shoes go wear a nice pair of flats, they'll go over the dress code since Clinique is very strict on its image.

Re: Brand New Clinique Beauty Advisor

Will I also get any color cosmetics? Or will I need to buy some? When it's GWP time, if I like the GWP do I have to make a purchase, or do employees get one free? Do you find the sales goals to be difficult, or are the goals do-able?

I would suggest getting together with your counter manager and seeing how things work in your store

Clinique has made a few changes to their dress code when they came out with the new labcoats, so your CM can fill you in on that, your daily goals and so on.

You'll get gratis 3 times a year and then you'll be able to choose what you want from almost the whole Clinique line. At school (or through mail), sometimes you'll get the new product. For color mostly, you can get that through gratis or by purchasing at the counter.

I'm not sure if Clinique might give their BA's a GWP at kick off but I do know that none of the other lines do. Most of us that work in Cosmetics end up buying at least one GWP purchase (PRESALE.... damn that presale! LOL) from another associate at the counter.

I didn't get anything when I started. I just had to wear products that looked like Clinique. Not long after, I got a full-sized 3-step but that was it. Nothing new came out during the time I worked there so didn't get any gratis. A few months later, I was able to order my gratis as you get it 4x a year (at least that's how it was before). HTH.

hey there ladies!
I am a former clinique counter manager and esthetician that went back to school to become an RN. ( crazy , right?!?!? ) well, lately I have been really missing my cosmetic roots and was wondering if anyone could tell me how the environment is these days ( ie: pre sell pressures, etc.. ) and if anyone knows what the salary range is for an Account Coordinator? Just so happens, an opening was posted recently and I am debating applying.
Many thanks!

I finished my hire-on paper work for Clinique yesterday and I start on October 4th! Woo:)
I will be working full time at the counter I'm hoping that some of the other BA's on here that work for Clinique could give me some advice?
I'll be starting on the first day of gift.. I'm missing the last few days of pre-sale so that kind of bites, but all in all I'm pretty excited.
I'm also nervous because I have big shoes to fill, the girl who's place I'm taking was absolutely phenomenal!

It took me working for Clinique for 6 months before I got my three step. I have gotten gratis twice and then i got a 4ml sample of Happy. But with our last gratis we got the new laserfocus foundation, turnaround overnight and serum.

Is there anyone still around the forums that work at a Clinique counter? I started at my counter 5 weeks ago...havent heard from my rep yet at all, although my store manager did get me set up with the 2 day class. I have no idea how to set up my gratis website ID, what time of the year it comes around, or anything. The girl I took over for was kinda bad .. customers come in and say they never got called for GWP, had all old paperwork from 2010 instead of updated events and counterpros, so I am truly on my own I feel lol

Any advice, any ideas where I might be able to find a semi current counterpro even?

I still work at a Clinique counter, you should be getting a letter in the mail with your gratis ID so you can set up your password.
I started working for Clinique last October and I didn't get my Gratis letter until late Jan/ Early Feb. It might take a while depending on when your information was inputted. Gratis happens every 3 months at my counter, keep your letter so you can log in and check when your money comes in. Just keep up to date with your 2.2.2 and people won't complain that they didn't get called for GWP. See if your counter manager will either give you the other girl's client file or evenly distribute it throughout all of you. I have no idea what a counterpro is but your account coordinator and exec should have given you their contact information so you can get ahold of them in case of something like this. Let me know if you need anymore help.
Good luck!

Hi, I currently work at Dillard's and was just moved over to our Clinique counter. However, I'm debating on moving a few states over to complete a Master's program. This state does not have a Dillard's but, plenty of Macy's and Nordstrom's with Clinique counters. i'm wondering how difficult it is to transfer within Clinique to a different location and department store?
