MAC - MAC Me Over Discussion

Outre doesn't really look mustard to me. It seems really neutral. I think it could be pretty on you. I'm so curious, I think I might just try it out now instead of waiting until I have zero time and have to run out hating my makeup. And now, you got me checking out reviews for Avenue again. I do like liners in a pot. I have to see how it compares to Black Swan.
Geesh, somehow I missed that. I'm sure Lagons quad looks really pretty on you! I'll check it out.

No mustard, ok I'll check it out ;) It seemed really mustardy in some pics.

I don't think its like Black Swan at all. Off the top of my head, I think that BS is more shimmery than the gold flecks in Avenue.

I went to my pro store to view the collection. It wasn't displayed out on the floor, but behind a wall and I had to ask to see it. I felt a bit rushed because the SA hovered the whole time I was choosing my products.

I picked up 4 things: Carbonized, Moleskin, Off Shoot, and Stunner. Carbonized is in the same family as Buckwheat, from Naked Honey. Carbonized has a pinkish shimmer, while Buckwheat has small gold flecks. I found Off Shoot quite pigmented. It isn't a dupe for Gem of Roses which is much pinker while Off Shoot is more like a mauve berry. Stunner is just okay, quite light. When worn, it reminds me a bit of NARS Deep Throat but minus the shimmer. Stunner is less pigmented than Pet Me and not as vivid as Hipness in the pan. I've yet to swatch all the blushes together. Finally, the biggest disappointment is Moleskin. When swatched, it's IDENTICAL to Kid eyeshadow!!! Absolutely identical!

I B2Med for it so I'm stuck with it.

I LOVE Lagons. I wore it the other day and it was amazing. I'm not a big fan of blue shadow on me, but that quad is foolproof. I just tried Outre on one eye and...I'm not happy with it. It's maybe one shade darker than my lid and matte. That's the only difference between this shadow and my skin. A few months ago, I was crazy about that kind of look, but that's what I got Groundwork Paintpot for. Had I seen this shadow in person, I wouldn't have bought it. For girls my complexion, buy it if you love neutral, effortless looks. I tried it with Centre Stage in the crease. It was nice, but not exciting for me. I was really looking for that mustard. ETA: I put Creamy Bisque on my eye and it's great whether it's on the lid, inner corner or the brow. Just get it!

This whole 226 business is stressing me out! I've had one on hold for a while at my mac store, so I'll pick it up, but if it's not tapered, I guess I'll just have to deal and buy a Laura Mercier crease brush. Or maybe shell out and get a hakuhodo, does anyone know if they make a comparable crease brush?

Sorry! You might still find it useful somehow. Maybe you'll find a combination that will make it more interesting.

i have the shadow 'ochre' from a long time ago, which i use to often wear with dark purpley plummy shades...like shadowy lady or nocturnelle....
don't think the finish is the same, but the shade looks pretty similar....
(for reference, i'm nc45 at the moment)

Glad to hear the comparison between Pet Me and Stunner. Thank you! Pet Me is one of my favorite blushes for fall. So, Stunner is Hipness and Well Dressed having a baby? Or a lighter and muted version of Instant Chic? I'm still trying to figure out Stunner. LOL

I cannot wait to see Stunner, Creamy Bisque, and 226 soon!

I like this part. Haha.

"S100series-the flagship series of Hakuhodo. we offer a wide variety of sizes considering a basic shape. The handle is made of wood and colored in beautiful vermilion, a traditional Japanese color. It broadens slightly toward the tip and is designed to fit perfectly in the hand. The ferrules are made of brass-rolled 24-karat gold with clear coating."

How much is 226?

Hmm I like the look of the Hakuhodo one, though it looks a bit smaller. Only problem is shipping is a bit high so I'll wait to do a bigger order so it's more 'worth it'

Hakuhodo makes Mac brushes, or at least they used to make them when the brushes were made in Japan....now they are made in China and quality sucks as evident in their recent released brushes so far this yr. I have probably 22 Hakuhodo brushes....been slowly replacing all of my other brushes with Hakuhodo as they are now my HG brushes and will never buy another brand. They have different series like the S100 (24k gold ferrules), G series, K series, Japanese traditions, etc. price is very comparable to the likes of Nars, Mac, etc. The brushes are all handmade and they don't cut the hairs to it's shape. they keep the hair tips and comb it into shape. I believe there is a video on the website how they make the brushes and it looks so cool. If any of you ever decide to try Hakuhodo brushes, they are definitely worth it! Shipping from California took at most 2 days tops.

I forgot to mention that the Hakuhodo 142 brush (that is mentioned in the link above) is slightly longer and skinnier than the Mac 226 brush but it is a great crease brush and definitely similar. It is definitely more tapered than the 226 brush for sure. But it's a great alternative to the Mac 226 if someone isn't happy with the quality of the 226 brushes coming out with this collection.

Hmm, now I am paranoid. I ordered Midnight Blues Fluidline this afternoon around 4pm EST and it is now showing as sold out on the US site. I got 2 day shipping, but I am wondering if it is backordered or totally sold out and will not be restocked, how long before I will know that? I am worried now that it will sell out at my counter, and then I will get a cancellation notice on my order... What to do, what to do...
