MAC - MAC Me Over Discussion

Elegant - I tried Oh, Oh, Oh. It is a very nice plummy color with a hint of gold shimmer. It is pretty sheer but I tend to like the lustre formula. It does cover though. I remembered that it was compared to O lipstick. I dug out O. I haven't worn this in ages. It's a good thing too because it had broken off in the cap. Uh I hate mess. Anyway, swatched on the hand, O looks just like Oh, Oh, Oh except it is more opaque. I decided to apply Oh Oh Oh on my bottom lip with O on the top. Oh Oh Oh looks super frosty next to O (lots of gold). It like O is gold with plum in it. Next to O, Oh Oh Oh has barely any shimmer. In fact, due to the large amount of gold in O lipstick, it is looking kind of brown next to Oh Oh Oh. So in short, if you don't like O lipstick because of the high amount of gold frost, you may like Oh Oh Oh better.
Well I don't have O. but Oh Oh Oh

sounds lovely. Thats awful to find a lipstick broken off like that. Thanks for the great details ;) I'm hoping to go see everything in person tomorrow or Sat. I think I'll get that one

Rebel IS one hot lipstick! I love it.

Well, I couldn't find Hush ccb,(its here somewhere :) ) so I tried it over Shell ccb which is a very lovely icy peach color & its lovely. It really kicks Moleskin up a notch. I think the color of Moleskin could be a nudey/natural cameleon kinda eyeshadow color
That's a pretty accurate description. It's opaque enough to cover, but sheer enough to let any frosty base shine through, but in a very sophisticated way. I hope you find Hush soon as I want to hear how that combo works out for you :)

I just came back to mention Outre. I already have Ochre Style so I didn't have Outre on my list but I decide to swatch it anyway. It wasn't very mustard to my eye either. I did swatch it next to the similar color in the duo. They looked pretty much the same on my hand but the duo color was more pigmented. I had to build up Outre to get them to the same opacity. Mind you I was using a q-tip for swatching.
edited - How do you like the mirror? I was thinking of getting one.
Soft Brown is peachier than Moleskin. This is how they look on my skin, but everyone's skin tone is different. Hope you'll have a chance to see them side by side.

Thank you, elegant!

I thought Tundra s/s was beautiful.

Yes I agree with that. It is soft :) & I like it now that I've played with it.
I have been running around with Moleskin & Carbonized & Avenue on one eye & Take Root & no liner on the other. I had to explain that to the hubs...but then I think he is quite used to that from me by now

I just got back from a local store. Only got a few things in store, since the Canadian prices are through the roof. Everything else I ordered online - EXCEPT Avenue, which was sold out by the time I got home. Maybe I'll try and get it locally here. Otherwise, I'll keep an eye out for the website to be restocked, since it's pretty unlikely any of the fluidlines will be around by the time I get back to the States.

What I got:
Runaway Red l/s: yes, yes, yes, yesssss! This is one of the most perfect red lipsticks I've encountered for my coloring and I'm EXTREMELY picky about reds - more so than any other color. The wrong red ages me 10 years instantly along with making my skin look sickly and dull, while the right red (so hard to find for me) looks better than just about any other color. For NC15 with green eyes and black hair, the blue balance in RR is perfect and so is the brightness - any darker and it still wouldn't have worked. I wouldn't have minded it being just a hair brighter - this is definitely a fall red, as opposed to a year-round red - but that can be remedied with gloss for spring and summer. Meanwhile the satin texture gives just the perfect amount of matte and sheen. It's not as thick as some other satins, like Toxic Tale, which makes it exceptionally versatile - i can easily blot it down to a smooth, even stain, keep it somewhat neutral or layer it on thickly for a retro look. I've passed up red after red for years, but this one is getting backed up and I feel like I don't need to look at another red lipstick unless something super metallic comes down the pike. Also, after wearing it for hours, I'm happy to say it's not drying, and my lips were a bit chapped when I applied it - so, good sign.

Prince Noir: OK, maybe I didn't need this color. I've got others, such as Hipness, that are very similar shades. The thing that made me get it anyways was this is a really fantastically textured matte. Smooth, creamy, but 100% matte and flat. No shimmer, sparkle or frost - just MATTE. And yet, not heavy or showing up lip imperfections. 'Had to get it. Smoked Purple appeared to have the same nice texture, by the way, but I can resist it since Potent Fig is going to own my soul as far as super dark purples go. Some people are going to look better in Smoked Purple than in Prince Noir, though, but I was happy PN isn't overly brownish when applied.

Equillibrium: Mac-Guy, I know you were wondering who was going to get this. I AM! I've really been wanting a moderate brown blush. Pressed Amber M/B was just super drab and bleh on me, as you may recall. I thought I was going to need to wait for something that was more of a brown pink or brown plum, but surprise! Equilibrium reads only just a touch warm on me and not even remotely orange - not a whisper of it. Lovely satin finish and perfect pigment density - i could use one swipe without looking like a clown or having to blend down and having a perfect level of color. VERY easy to work with, which is obviously something a pale person needs with a brown blush. I'm wearing it across my cheek contour with a touch on the apples, applied over Careblend bronzer and some Semi-Precious Pearl MSF for highlight - OMG LOVE IT. Looks phenomenal with Runaway Red - which just goes to show that both of these products are perfectly balanced for NC15 and for each other, since let's face it, you can't always wear a brown blush with a red lip. COMBO OF GREAT JUSTICE!

I was also impressed with the fluidlines - only picked up Dark Envy, though I'd like to get Avenue as well. I'm not a huge Fluidline person - i usually prefer smudgier liner, but these colors were particularly nice. Soft and not hard-edged, while providing a really obvious color and noticeable shimmer/sheen on the lid. I'd say these are marks of a real sweet spot for a gel liner for middle aged eyelids (one of the reasons I'm usually not a huge gel liner person - just looks too hard on heavy lidded eyes a lot of the time). The blue one was more opaque than Siahi, but close enough that I wasn't going to sweat it. However, I felt like there was enough difference between Dark Envy and Ivy to make it worthwhile. Ivy is definitely a more "Pop", comic book color compared to Dark Envy, which reads as a rich shimmering forest green on me. My eyes are green enough that many greens really detract from their color, rather than enhance, so considering Dark Envy does work and combine that with how well Dark Indulgence MES also works on me, I figured I'd get all my forest green needs taken care of right here and now. I still think Avenue is probably the most versatile choice out of all of them - I will probably go back and get it tomorrow somewhere locally, even though I'm paying the Canadian premium on it. I skipped Dark Diversion last time, since I had plenty of Raven Eye Kohl at the time. I'm still a little hmm about it, even though it's an excellent color for me. I don't know why I'm so on the fence - I usually adore burgundy/plum liners. A little bird is telling me I may break down and get it anyhow.

I'll be back with more musings in a bit.

Long long time lurker. I had to post about this collection. I was so excited when I saw the previews but as the reviews began to surface I was so so. I went today to swatch the collection and I was so disappointed. The evil eye quad was so sub par and almost no pigmentation. The lady gray quad I was not interested in because I felt I was to dark for it and wouldn't use the colors. Carbonized I felt was blah on my dark skin and it could be duped easy. I own over 200 nail polishes and I feel that mac polishes are never worth the price tag when china glaze, essie, finger paints and opi come out with the same colors for half the price. Im upset because for to me this is the second year in a row that macs fall collection is lacking. I feel that MAC up art was the last decent one. I brought from cat one last year because I could work with the color however I had to just walk away from this one. The good news is that while at my mall I was able to get my hands on China Glazes halloween collection and pick up a shadow trio from sephora so not a total waste of time. Staying positive for the Cindy Sherman or whatever their calling it now.

Tx you so much Liba!!!! I am suppose to get one of my orders tomorrow. I ordered Runaway Red (if you say it's the perfect red lipstick I believe you), Oh Oh Oh, Prince Noir (even though I was disappointed it looks nothing like the description MAC gave us...a deep blue purple...but it's more brown red...augh!!) and I gave in and also got Smoked Purple. You mentioned Potent Fig, girlfriend, that has my heart pitter pattering already. I may have to get two or three of those just because the color is so eye catching.

I went to the counter and ended up getting...

Mythical e/s
Carbonized e/s
Runaway Red l/s
226 Brush

I asked if I could back to mac the lipstick and the MA said no they don't do it on collection lipsticks so I just went ahead and bought it. I didn't think about it but I should've asked if I could back to mac for Smoked Purple since it's not really a collection lipstick but it's a regular PRO item. I hadn't planned on getting Mythical but she sold me on it. Heehee! And the 226!!!! OMG! This is the cutest, nicest, eye brush ever! My husband knew how much I wanted that brush so when we walked up to the collections, I immediately started swatching eyeshadows and he goes "before you start doing that, why don't you look for that brush that you want". LOL!! And I did and low and behold it was right there. After reading all the horror stories I had almost set my mind to not even try to find the brush at counters being that I was hearing counters had a very limited supply. This brush looks like it will be ideal for my crease. Now after looking at the swatches on my hand on the way home, I think I want Moleskin e/s and possibly that Smoked Purple l/s. I didn't see the Shadesticks. Maybe when I go back over the weekend.

ETA: That 211 brush was really nice too.

I've been getting so overwhelmed when I go into MAC lately. I wanted to swatch the Fluidlines too but like I said, I got kind of overwhelmed. Oh well, maybe on the next visit.

I went and saw everything in person. The fluid lines were sold out except Avenue just in the time it took to walk to the food court and back. The 211 looked interesting and like it would be awesome for the fluid lines. I would love it if I could wing my liner at all without it looking silly. There was only one counter of three in the city that got the 226. They will be sold out soon because people were coming from EVERYWHERE to get them. I agree that the evil eye quad had potential but in person was terrible. Stunner swatched super light on my hand. I am super disappointed because I wanted to want it very bad. Pretty pinky coral blushes make me happy. To me the shadesticks swatched softer than the others did when they were new. Maybe it is just my imagination though.

I notice from UPS tracking that they are shipping out of Kentucky now instead of Maryland, so either they are having some issues because of the transfer or the shipping from Kentucky will just be slower.
I was talking to one of the girls at my local cco and she said that MAC had moved a warehouse. Maybe that's why. I've had items come from Lexington before, though.

I got my shipping notice for Midnight Blues just a few minutes ago :) I decided that even though I am still tempted by a few things, I will wait a few days and then go to the counter. There is nothing else that I will be crushed if I don't get, and by waiting, I won't impulse buy,.. I am so excited about Midnight Blues though!

Audrey, I think that is so smart. I have been trying too these past several months/collections to buy only what I really love and will wear. I think by waiting until some of the hype/initial excitement wears off, it's easier to buy what you know you'll really use and love.
That said, this is SO my kind of collection. I've gone a little overboard. But so far have not been disappointed. I can't wait to hear what you think about the rest once you've seen it! You'll have to post a FOTD when you get Midnight Blues - I bet it'll make your blue eyes even bluer!
