Airbrushing 101 paint

I have bought an air brush and am terrified of the unknown. That won't last long once I start using it, but I'm not sure how to prepare the paint. My first question then relates to thinners. What do people use for Enamel paints... as in... is turps ok or will it stuff the brush. And is there an inexpensive alternative to the expensive acrylic thinners you can buy?

I use bestine solvent and their airbrush thinner, it is not so highly priced. I have heard that using Isopropyl alcohol is a cheaper solution and is known to work well with Tamiya and Gunze Sangyo. I hope this helps.
