These "fairytale" notions and expectations can be the downfall of a good relationship. Too many times we go into a relationship trying to model it after what Hollywood and society feed us as the "perfect relationship" and we ruin a good thing. Relationship are hard. Nothing comes easy. They change, evolve, and morph as we progress in them. The best thing you can do is let go of your expectations (obviously not ones like he should not beat me, etc) and just enjoy and learn from each other.
