MAC at Nordstroms

My journey started a few months ago, just applying for a management position at a make up counter at Nordstroms. I have managed in retail before, but most of my management experience us with bars, but I also have freelanced for 8 years so I figured I'd give it a shot. The posting ended up being for MAC, and I went through 4 different interviews. The last one was with one of the "top dogs" in my region, and honestly, it was intense, and it was pretty clear to me it was a little more than I could handle. I was called back, and told I was not yet ready to manage, however they did want to offer me a freelance position, which I gladly accepted. So I started going through the motions, and after signing the paperwork, I was just waiting on my employee ID. Out of nowhere, I get a call from Nordstroms, verifying my interview for the following day (???). I told them I didn't have on scheduled, but I would go anyway. Apparently the regional MAC manager had put a word in for me, and I was offered a part time position. I accepted, and then 20 minutes later, they called me again offering me a full time perm position! Crazy process, but I am thrilled! Do any of you ladies have experience working for the Nordstroms MAC counter?

I worked there for 7 years..was Product Specialist,Viva glam ambassador,Pacesetter,Advanced certified…you will have lots of pre-sell goals (not only MAC) you cross-sell,so you have your MAC goal + Nordstrom goal, you will be expected to open "Reward" accounts for customers..( I was top opener in the store). It can be stressful at times as you have so much to do,so many goals to meet but if you're good w customers, build relationships, you will be successful.I left bc I was burnt out,and needed a change and now Im just on my own doing freelance..bridal/TV/Film etc.Hope this helps! xx Sarah

Thank you so much for the response, it was very helpful! I worked at a huge retail store, and they were very big on "Rewards" cards too. I am a great seller, and I'm very honest and I'd like to think easily approachable, so I think this will work out nicely. I understand getting burnt out, I've been managing fine dining bars for the last 6 years. Mix alcohol with entitlement and sprinkle a lot of master mixology requests and voila, the custos (I need to stop calling them that) I dealt with day in and day out. Extremely stressful and extremely fast faced. The benefit is I've become a queen at multitasking, and my patience for customers is unyeilding.
