Picking the right lipstick & lipglass

I have to admit, my biggest flaw is picking the right color lipstick to match eyeshadows.
I know that if you are going dark on the eye you go light on the lip and visa versa... that's not my questions.

What I'd like to hear from you all is what is your "formula" to picking lipsticks to match whatever eye color you are wearing at the time? I have about 80+ lipsticks in my drawer that I do not use because they frustrate me. I remember going to M.A.C. basic and all of the girls (and boys) had incredible lip color (their liner, lipstick and lipglass combos were to die for). I have never been able to master it.

Any advice? Any help?? Anyone??
