Hi ladies - I have been on Specktra (minimally) since about a year ago, when I joined after becoming a Bobbi Brown makeup artist. I was only there about three months, and one of the reasons I left is my question for you.

Does anyone have experience/advice for someone whose eyes water excessively after applying mascara? While working at the counter, I would wear Bobbi products and my eyes would water so much I couldn't see the counter next to me. I am not exaggerating! In an hour all of my eye makeup would be gone, as well as the three-step concealer I used

. This went on for weeks, to the point that I would take Benedryl before going to work.

Some things I considered: I thought it might be dyes from clothes, from the formula of mascara I was using, from the concealer products, from the eyeliners, from the skincare I started with, YOU NAME IT. I also have never been much of a makeup wearer, just a makeup lover, so I considered that maybe my eyes just weren't used to it. One by one I took every product away to see what it could be. Things improved slightly after I stopped using Bobbi's eye and face creams, but not by much. The other counters gave me samples of their mascaras, so I have tried Laura Mercier, Clinique, Lancome and Lauder. Also all Maybelline, Almay and Revlon. I didn't go further with drugstore lines because by that time I was fed the h*ll up with all of it

!

In summary, now I know that Bobbi's gel liners are good for me, her e/s as liner is fine, but I have yet to find a mascara that works. I think that something in some of her skincare bothers me, also. I should also note that aside from the watering eyes, there was no other sign of sensitivity, like acne or skin rash.

I am sorry it is so long, I just wanted to give y'all a complete picture to work with

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My sister-in-law had the same kind of problem with Mascaras and she finally found that the Avon Mascaras work for her, without giving her the runny eyes. My take is that you have extremely sensitive eyes or you are reacting to any/some of the contents in the mascaras. Like SweetCheeks suggested, maybe, a mascara for sensitive eyes would do the trick..

i agree with nics1972. sadieboo, you must have really sensitive eyes like I do. You might be allergic to some ingredient in there that you might not know you're allergic to.

My eyes varied between and/or had a combination of super-watery, itchy, burning, red-eyes, multiple stys, all the point where I couldn't even open my eyes because the mascara bothered me so much.

After tons of trial, error, and lots of money spent, I finally came up wearing Maybelline Full n' Soft, the only mascara that doesn't water, burn, itchy-fy my eyes, and didnt' have sulfa ingredients that I'm allergic to.

Also, take a look at your lash curler. Is it clean? If not, that might be even the source to begin with with your mascara problem because we curl our lashes at the very base, right next to our eyeball. If makeup products AND tools aren't clean, then your face won't be clean and safe either. Try to keep all makeup organized and super clean because every single makeup product carries so much bacteria if you don't take care of it.

HTH =)

My eyes get very watery quite often & blurs my vision (makes it a bit difficult to apply my eye makeup), my eye specialist told me that its due to my thyroid condition.
