I wonder if it'll actually happen though. Will they go through with it? And if they do how long you think it's going to take? I mean how long can they keep postponing the sentence and appealing it?
What saddens me the most, as a Muslim and an Arab, is that the Sunni Muslims and the Shiite Muslims are fighting with each other. This type of behavior is unheard of amongst Muslims, it was a silent thing that happened in Iraq but it was committed by Saddam who hated Shiites. Now that the US has left no strong structured government for Iraq its sad to see them killing each other. One of my closest friends is Iraqi Shiite and him and are were talking about this the other day. Between the two secs there is only one difference in the religion, so we just don't get why now the people are at each other's throats. It's sad.
On the other hand my boyfriend is Assyrian from Iraq and he never was one who supported Saddam but he was telling me how Christians no longer have religious protection in Iraq. Their Church was blown up a few months ago. Saddam's former foreign minister and deputy prime minister was Assyrian so Christians were never bothered and their were portected by the government. Ever since the US took him out of power they haven't really done anything to protect the Christian minority and many have fled the country and the ones that stayed aren't living under safe conditions.
It's just sad to see all this violence amongst the same people, other Arab countries (with the exception of Lebanon) aren't like this. There's isn't this seperation between Muslim Sunnis and Muslim Shiites or Christians. Whatever happens to Saddam I just hope that someone will protect ALL the people of Iraq before it gets even worse then it already is.
