signature problem

i can't seem to make up a signature to fit the "500 character" limit, as small as i make it. what am i doing wrong?
i see people with signatures more complicated than i have attempted...i am so confused.

Hm I dont think I understand really. You go to the User CP, click on "Edit Signature" and write in what you want it to say in the box. Then click on "Save Signature" and it will appear underneath your posts. Maybe your sig is too long?

Yes, its saying my sig is too long, but its not very long at all, definitely not the 500 character limit. i don't understand why, perhaps its because i'm using bb code, but i don't think it amounts to 500 characters.

for example, it won't even let me change the color of my font because it says my sig will be too long with the code. gah!

If it's telling you it's too long, it's too long.

It does include the BB code markup in the character count.

but how do i get a signature with so much code, like yours? it seems it won't even let me use even the simple code for bold fonts...
