I didn't read the whole thread but I have a few ideas:
1)Do you really need the coverage of the foundation, or can you just use MAC concealer like under the eyes and then dust w/powder?
2)I had uneven areas on my face, and the MAs were matching to the darker, but that looked like a mask on my face. Once I matched to the lighter areas, it worked. Could you try that?
3) Maybe you could use the NC55 mixed w/moisturizer to thin it out (to make a tinted moisturizer sort of) and then dust it w/a darker powder or MSF (deep dark?)...
4) It's clear that you are NC; NW won't work. Worse comes to worse, I agree that you either need to try a different brand, and perhaps either custom blend (like w/NC55 + an Iman shade), or go to Prescriptives. Either way if NC55 is too light, you just may have to bite the bullet so to speak and think of some other alternative.
