videos in color stories

so i have been browsing the color stories lately, and i have noticed a lot of videos for certain ones. what were these used for? were they aired on television, or played at stores or counters....or what? i don't mean the application videos, i mean the commercial videos, like the one for snowgirl or tempt me, tease me.

Some of the MAC counters have TVs and they'd play them it's kind of an ambiance (sp?) thing I suppose. But the music in the videos is always different from whatever the counter has playing so I find it really distracting & out of sinc. I remember being mezmerized by the SalsaBelle video though
