Winter Lip Care! How are Your Lips Handling This Icy Blast?

First and foremost, I have to begin this chat with a letter:
Dear Winter,
This is down right disrespectful now. Please take your harsh weather, wind, snow, cold and everything else in between and go somewhere.
Signed,
Chapped and unkissable lips everywhere!
So I might be a bit overdramatic but seriously? Seriously?! It's freezing and this icy blast is taking a toll on my lips.
Swatches of new lipsticks that have been released? Nope. Playing with ALL of the new liquid matte lipsticks that have recently launched? Haha. Heck no. My lips are wrecked!
That is until I found my holy grail lip care product last week - Blistex medicated lip ointment! I was sitting around complaining to my sister in law that my bottom lip looked like someone punched me in the face. Yes, it was that swollen. So she asked me if I've ever tried the blistex ointment in the white tube. Of course my immediate response was, "oh it's not going to work, forget it, I'll just wait this out". Long story short: I got my own tube and I feel like the heavens came down on me. I saw the white lights and the angels sang.
Again, a bit dramatic but I have spent hundreds of dollars on lip care products just trying to find the perfect team for protection and treatment. Now that I'm satisfied, it's time to come share the news with some of my fellow beauty junkies.
How are you caring for your lips in this weather?

  • [*=center]Blistex Lip Medex $1.59 - Great for everyday use throughout the year
[*=center]Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm $3.29 - this is a bit waxy because of the pomegranate oil but I occasionally switch it up between my lip medex and this. This is great is you're looking for a product that is 100% natural
[*=center]Marc Jacobs Beauty Lip Lock Moisture Balm $24 - This is a very buttery, rich lip balm with SPF 18 that locks in hydration. Honestly, because of the price, I only use this when I'm out on a date/seeing my boyfriend. It's great at keeping your lips moisturized in between lip locks. #ImjustSaying
[*=center]Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment $3.00 - Bomb! That's it. I swear this is my product for 2015. This healed my lips in two days. Try it out.

Most of the items that help me with chapped lips are from the drug store. Also my situation is different because I don't really experience the harshness of winter that most others do. I live in south FL. My go tos are

  • Carmex:
  • Aquaphor
  • Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream
  • Fresh Lip Treatment

How do you like the Aquaphor and Fresh Lip? I haven't gotten a chance to try them yet.

I love the Aquaphor and the Fresh Lip. However there is a huge difference in price between the two. A small tube of Aquaphor 1.75 oz is about $4.99. A tube of Fresh Lip Treatment is $22. I never thought I would have ever bought the Fresh Lip Treatment until that year it was a part of the Sephora birthday gift. Once it was done I bought a full sized one during the Chic Week 15% off in April. Aquaphor is better for overnight treatment. Something thick that will sit on your lips while you sleep and soothe. The Fresh is for use during the day. Something that's not thick or sticky as you go along your day. My only gripe with the Fresh is it is very soft. In South FL weather a purse may not be the best place to keep it.

The Jack Black lip balm always heals my dry lips in the winter so quickly! Also love to use it the rest of the year because there's SPF!

I love Jack Black lip balm the blackberry one is my favorite. I also have been using Nivea kiss of moisture and that really helps me. My lips were so dry the past few days they were burning but I've been slathering them in lip balm and they feel so much better lol.

oh wow! That is a big price difference but as long as it's working then it's worth it

I'm definitely going to check this out now after reading what you both had to say! Lip care is a must!

I usually don't chapped lips... I always use Aquaphor and it has really worked over the years. However, this year I'm having a problem fighting away the lip flakes. Aquaphor has been doing nothing, Bite Beauty lip mask not helping either. The last few days I've been using Palmer's Cocoa Butter in stick form and the flakes are all but gone. Adding this to my regular lip line up!

I broke down and bought By Terry Baume de Rose the other day.

I both hate myself for dropping that much cash on lip balm and am thrilled since it fixed my lips.

Sometimes the best investments are on ourselves....I know how you feel though! I hated dropping over $20 for my Marc Jacobs balm but in the end it works great on my lips!

Has anyone tried Motives Cosmetics Vitamin C lip treatment? Expensive at $17.50 so wondering if it's worth buying

I haven't tried it. I wish they would give out samples so we could test them out. Lately, I've been using coconut oil on my lips to help them heal overnight! It's very cost efficient!

I know this is late but I don't care lol. First off, medicated lip balms have peppermint most likely and peppermint dries out lips. I live in a frigid climate (thank God it's not anymore) so I have some experience with dry lips and what works for me it drinking enough water and aquaphor at night and Kiehls lip balm or Smith's Rose lip salve during day. No dry lips one time last winter. Also keep in mind coffee consumption is dehydrating. If you are a coffee drinker, it can add to the dryness fyi:)
