Hello everyone I applied at Sephora this past Monday and it's now Friday and have yet to get a call back. Should I call back? When i applied the lady did say they were hiring and did say to give the manager a couple of days. I'm getting worried, I really want this job! How long did it usually take for everyone to get a call back or just hired in general?
Thanks!!

@normaS30 you really should have handed your application to the manager on the floor and I hope you included a résumé. I applied in August and kept going in ever so often so the managers recognized me I didn't get a call till October for seasonal. But since they are hiring now stop in and ask to talk to a manager about the status of your app.

If anyone has any questions about the application process and the interview process, let me know!

Hey, I have a group interview at sephora on wednesday (seasonal and no cosmetic experience), I was just wondering what kind of questions would be asked? I am trying to be as prepared as possible because I want to stand out. I would be SO happy if I got the job.

Hey! I had two interviews with them. The first one was a group interview with 2 other girls & the 2nd interview I had was a one on one with the store director. What position are you applying for? I applied for the Colour Specialist position and in the group interview they asked me:
>Tell me about yourself
>why do you want to work for sephora?
>whats a makeup item that you cant live without?
>if you owned sephora, and a customer came in a bought a fragrance, left the store and came back with it broken wanting to exchange it, What would you do.
>how would you deal with an angry customer that you dont like?
>What is one thing that you dont like at your current job and why?

2nd interview.
>What do you like most about your current job?
>who is/was your favorite supervisor?
>how would you deal with multiple customers wanting your help at the same time.

Thats pretty much it.
Wear all black or wear the sephora colors to stand out. Red/White/Black.
Ask them questions, to show them that you are interested in the job.
Just be confident! In the end, they need you more than you need them. GoodLuck!

No I didnt! The manager wasn't there. I called back two different times and she wasn't there. Each time they told me she was in the process of calling people back for interviews. I applied last Monday. I called this past sunday and yesterday. I went in today and the manager was there but she was busy. I asked two different girls if I should just wait for them and they told me she doesn't like it when people come in and ask about the status of their application? By the vibes I was getting I think she may be bitchy or just strict. Anyways I really want this job! I know I qualify so Im guessing they're just busy right now. :(

Hello everybody!

I am a professional makeup artist with 4 years of experience freelancing and have had 10+ years in upper management in other professions... I just have a question about the starting pay and if I should take the position that I just got offered....

Today I was offered a position at a Sephora inside JCPenneys. They will be starting me off as a FT Product Consultant with the intentions of moving me to Senior Education Consultant when the current one leaves. I got a bit nervous during the pay negotiation... the manager said they usually start at $11-12/hr and I said "how about $13", and they agreed. Looking back, I wish that I had stated a higher hourly wage that matched my experience and former pay. With my experience I really feel as though I should be making at least $15/hr to start. I am not trying to be greedy or ungrateful, but the pay is considerably lower than my past 3 jobs. Sephora is a company that I have wanted to work for for a long time, so I am grateful they want to bring me on, but I want to be smart about it as well.

So now, I feel as though I should renegotiate when I go back, but I don't know if I should say something.... ?? Knowing that they are looking to move me up, should I just accept this rate?

For those who have been promoted to, or hired as, a Senior Education Consultant, can you please tell me what the starting pay for that position is? I just want to know how much to expect so I know whether or not to take the position or hold out for something else.

Thanks so much for any advice someone can give me!

Honestly, being in NY you could have asked for more. I think it might be too late though, since you already suggested and agreed to $13. I don't know very much about that position, but I do know somebody who worked as a regular consultant- not senior, I'm not sure the name of that position, anyway- she asked for $12 and got it easily. It's NY, they can afford it. I just don't know if there is a way to go back and ask.

Hi everyone, I just recently applied to Sephora and had a group interview last Friday, which went well. I should be having my 2nd interview soon, I'm very nervous. Does anyone know specifically what questions they ask you? Also, how much do you typically get paid to work here. I know it probably varies, but the manager seemed like she wanted to put me into the Color department, how much would that usually be for first-timers? I also, just started a new waitressing job, just because I figured Sephora wouldn't call me back, and of course it figures that they did and it's basically my dream job. So I'm not sure if I should tell Sephora that I'd be willing to work full-time there or if I should keep my other job too and work part-time at both. I feel as though that may affect me getting hired. However, I know I want to do makeup as a career and eventually go to school for special effects makeup, so my gut is telling me to work full-time at Sephora. I'm very torn! Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Hi everyone! So I've been looking around at all different forums about working at Sephora, and I feel like my situation has been a tad bit different from every ones that I have read. I turned in my app Approximately 1 week and 1 day ago, so last Friday. I got called for an interview on Thursday and received a call with them offering me a position today! I feel like it has been a very fast process, so I'm scared that reading everything will be sort of useless(no offense) because nothing has been what I've been reading about. I have learned quite a bit though, and I now have mixed feelings about working here! I mean they told me they are only looking for seasonal, which is okay I guess and they are starting me out at $10 on cashwrap. Which is better than my $8.25 right now lol. I am sooo interested in staying around longer than seasonal though. Does anyone have any tips on how to sweet talk your way into possibly getting the customer to actually fill out the survey? Is that the best way to get noticed by managers to maybe stay for perm? I just want to do everything I possibly can to stand out in a good way and stick around for a long time. Thank youuuuu for reading this:)

I just started at SiJCP and wanted to know how much does the OPS make? I'm being considered for that position and want to know if its work taking or not. And I wanted to know if we get the 40% off as well on the sephora brand.

hey! my story is similar to yours! I was reading everyone's comments while I was applying to try to get an idea of what the process is like, and noticed that once I turned in my application, the process was a lot faster than most. I only had one group interview and they called me (two days after the interview) offering a seasonal cash position ($9 :( but I'm not too upset because I wanted to work there for SO long). Most people start out seasonal, from what I've read. My friend who works at a different sephora started out seasonal as well, after two months, the director had a meeting with her to let her know that they wanted her to stay to be a "core" member of the cast, also they raised her wage. From what I've noticed, they keep up to half of their seasonal employees. By showing interest and being extremely helpful/learning a lot quickly really helps... (I have a couple of friends that work at different locations). They basically told me that directors look for someone who shows that they are eager to continue working there, has a huge interest in the industry and someone that they like, personality (obviously). I'll post on here if I find out more as time goes by, but I hope I helped somehow? haha.

Hi all! VERY new to this site, and was wondering if any of you have had similar experience to mine, as it's looking to be unique.

I applied to Sephora a month and a half ago, finally got a call for a group interview on 11/8/12 with 5 other girls, nailed it, & got a call offering me the position not even 30 minutes after the interview ended. I stayed around & even bought some Anastasia brow wiz, but was on the freeway heading home when I received the call asking if I was still at the mall. When I said I was on my way home, they told me they were offering me the position, asked if I was accepting (of course I said yes!), & that they would call me about setting up a time for me to come in to drop in my ss card, my id, & voided check (for payroll, I assume).

Well, It's been a week and 4 days and still no call. I called them earlier today and left a message. Has anyone been in this situation before? I know they checked at least one of my references because they called me and confirmed they offered me the position. Should I be worried? I know they're probably really busy because of Black Friday coming up, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything because they don't they have to have my ID & ss card to run the background? Or do they run it first, then ask me to come in with that?

Any info will help. THANKS!!

I think that you should stay positive and keep trying to get in contact with the store director! Black friday very well may have played an impact in your case. If I were you I would go to the store and ask to speak to a store director or specialist (and explain your situation). If you aren't persistent, then you might lose your chance! Good luck! :)

Hi LLL,

congrats on your sephora job- i'm in Toronto as well, and am wondering if you know if any local stores are still hiring for seasonal/part-time?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide!

if anyone is trying to get their foot in the door with sephora now is the time! they are hiring for seasonal. i just had my interview a few days ago. the managers were very welcoming, laid back, and seem to love their jobs there. the interview consisted of the manager, another female, and i. i emphasized on the fact that i have NO retail expierence what so ever. the manager had told me that they are big on training their employees and one put anyone on their own until they are 110% confident. ( we'll see). i feel to be hired at this particular store you must either have a strong background on retail or cosmetics. atleast one of them is a MUST. i can truthfully say that they probably wont call you if you dont have any of those things under your belt. BUT! what i did tell them was i hosted for 2 years at a high end restaurant to which they were pleased. they still consider that as "costumer service" because it involves communication with clients. i have applied at sephora 2 previous times but were overlooked due to my lack of retail. i just recently graduated a makeup academy and having that behind my name certainly helped them pick my application out of the others.

i was very lucky with my interview because it was only about 15 mins long at most. the questioned that were asked were " why sephora? " , "what was your previous job and what do you think your former employer would say about you?" and of course availability.

i asked what the seasonal position consists of and the manager replied saying that we would mostly be greeting, stocking up the gondolas, and if necessary working the cashier. i also asked what the hours will look like they said minimum or 5 hours and on call spots are known if you were to work extended hours when you are already working your shift...which means there isnt that whole ' im home in bed but i have to find out if i work or not in 2 hours '. ( which i will find out if is true or not also can anyone verify if this is true for those who are already working at sephora ).

and it is true that the discount is 20%.

im very excited to start my job here

. i hope this helped anyone that wanted a detail, informative run down on the interview portion for those who are interested.

if you do get the opportunity to chat with the managers ... pick their brains! find out as much as you can ...especially if your in the interview.
