UPDATE # 2 - OK i just received my gold pigment from Mac Pro and compared it with the fake one. Yes everyone you were right (again)
yes.gif
! The real gold pigment is like metal the fake one I have is a frost. They're like chalk and cheese. Thanks again everyone for helping me. Please let me know if you would like me to take photos of the real and the fake side by side. Maybe that's a bad idea and gives the counterfeiters more info though. If some of the senior members could let me know please thanks!

UPDATE # 1 - Just thought I'd let everyone know I ended up taking the pigments into MAC and they said they were fake as well. mlrosati cancelled the ebay transaction for me and could not have been nicer about it. i was quite impressed. no hassles at all and she took my word for it - no dramas and very nice to deal with. She did say that she gets all her pigments from CCO (i don't know what that is) and she even rang them to make sure and they said all their MAC items are 100% authentic.

Hi everyone

God I hope I'm not being too annoying and doing this right.

I started a thread yesterday about a gold pigment I had bought from mlrosati but it arrived today and I have some photos of it for you to have a look at.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease oh please tell me it's real and not fake. I think I'm going to stab myself if I've got another fake pigment.
cry.gif

I've also included 2 of my other pigments in the shots. I'm nearly 100% that these 2 are authentic. Cocomotion was purchased from my-boo-kitty and Museum Bronze was from buyyugiohonline. I've had these 2 for a while. I don't have boxes anymore for these two.

OK so here goes - if you need more shots please let me know - I'm new at this remember!! I wish I could put more than 5 photos on here!

back of gold - the flash has sort of made it look like some of the writing is missing but it isn't - it's just the photo.

I'm not an expert but the font on the bottom label seems different. The formatting of the text also seems different. The Gold pigment has centered text on the jar where as the others are not. The weight info is also formatted differently. Might be fake .

I'm sorry!!!

Gold is DEFINITELY fake. The extremely frosty label gave it away. Also, jar says Made in Canada and box says Made in USA. Hmmm... all pigments with boxes that I own and and used to own always correspond, ie both box and jar Made in Canada or Made in USA.

If you need a little idea how that box look so beaten up...

Hi
I just checked and the Gold jar says Made in Fabrique au Canada. And the box says Canada as well. The label is clear and says Gold A47. Were you lookking at the cocomotion or museum bronze labels?
Thanks for taking the time to help me

No honey, Xqueeze_me is right - this one is a fake too. Gold is a metal pigment - its never full to the top and its NOT a frost finish. Its a metal finish, it has a very smooth velvety texture and its got a beautiful smooth look through the jar - not like other powder pigments, and it looks nothing like what you have received
ssad.gif
So sorry!

Heres a really good swatch of AUTHENTIC Gold pigment courtesy of member Sleepyhead

You can see the texture is much different.

Apologies! I should have made it clearer that it was the Gold pigment that I was referring to that's fake. I was actually looking at the Gold jar and box (turned upside down to show the barcode). The box looked like "Made in USA" from what I can see. :|

Hi--this is a fake. I have the real Gold from macpro.com and it's a metal finish like Silver & Copper--this is a fake. I got a fake Rose Gold that was the same MO as your fake Gold. Sorry. Pls try to get your money back--that pigment isn't even the right texture--wihtout anaqlyzing the jar, we kow it's fake.

IMO fake on the gold pigment. I just wanted to add that I have been buying from my-boo-kitty for years, and she has never done me or my friends wrong. I would make any purchases you can from her if on ebay (and no, I don't know her).

Hi...From the picture showing the texture I'd say for sure it's a fake. About the font being centered I'm no expert but do know some the metal pigments font on the back isnt centered like others texures/tyoes. I have 2 metal full jars and both have the text format like yours and I got them direct from MAC (Rose & Rose Gold).

My ebay days are over!

OK thanks guys - well it looks the jury is in and I got sucked in - AGAIN!!!
angry.gif

Hey I'm not a stupid woman - although you're probably finding that hard to believe right now!
bangin.gif

Clearly I need to stop trusting sellers on ebay. No, on second thoughts - my ebay days are over. I've bought 6 pigments from ebay and out of those 4 are fake and I will try and get my money back on the 2 recent purchases. That certainly was an expensive lesson!! Well I'm off to do battle with ebay to get refunds.

Wish me luck!

I'd like to say a HEYUGE thank you to everyone who has helped me - you guys rock.

One more thing - any comments on the Cocomotion (from my boo kitty) and Museum Bronze (from buyyugiohonline) in the photos?? They are the two I'm pretty sure are real.

Sadly Julie, for every genuine MAC seller, like you and BooKitty, there's like another 50 or more that sell fakes and who are very, very ignorant about the danger of these counterfeits
angry.gif

I felt compelled to add this to this discussion ...as sometimes some of these sellers should be named and shamed
I saw an auction for like 37 Mac pigments...asap from the pictures i knew these were fakes .... part of the description said that seller was an ex Mac employee !!Yeayyyyyy
I politely enquired&emailed seller and said that these jars looked fake etc and if she really did work for Mac,she would have been sacked for selling counterfeit pigments!I also mentioned the danger of selling something that is used near eye area but has dangerous ingredients which can make you potentially go scarred or blind!
Reply"I dont quite know where you get your information from but they are identical in ingredients actually. As you have kicked up such a fuss I have ended my listings and decided to keep my products for myself, her who knows, maybe i might go blind

[FONT=arial, sans-serif]I also wanted to know what's the point of eBay,(everytime i log on) to advertise their phone number in case of any problems ....

I also ordered from her. It turned out to be counterfeit as wel.

She did issue me a refund for the full amount including shipping fees. She is very easy to work with and should hopefully refund you. My only regret is leaving her positive feedback because i was afraid she'd leave me a negative feedback if I left her a negative.

That is why she continues to be able to sell fakes.

I expect she's prepared for a certain level of refund requests and will have factored this into her profit margins. As long as most people don't ask for refunds she'll make a handsome profit.

The last thing she wants is an eBay dispute being escalated and putting her account in jeopardy for selling fakes. As long as she refunds when requested and people are frightened to leave negative feedback she'll continue to be able to ply her illegal trade.
