What kind of lip conditioner do you use?

Restrict l/s is the favorite lip product from this collection. It as a pale nude with undertones in mauve, beige, and light pink, a combination which perfectly complements my natural lip color w/o washing me out or looking like a nude-but-trying-too-hard shade (which can look terrible). Restrict applies effortlessly to my lips, but I make sure that my lips are well hydrated with a lip conditioner for at least twenty minutes before I apply Restrict. I usually apply the conditioner right after I apply my moisturizer, which I let sink in for at least 15 minutes before I proceed with primer and/or foundation. Restrict can be applied in a very sheer layer w/o looking patchy or more heavily for an opaque look. I do not recommend to apply it in a thick layer as the effect will not look aesthetically pleasing, at least IMO, as it can look too creamy and overdone. I think it works best as a thin to medium layer, in which case it is a MLBB color (depending on your pigmentation), adding a sheen to the lip w/o looking too shiny. Due to the mauve undertones, I'd say it works best for NW complexions or NC that do not feature overly yellow undertones.

On my hand, it blends in very nicely with a my NW15/20 skintone and in comparison with Nubile p/p, the mauve/pink becomes more apparent. It is the mauve-y undertone that makes it work so well with the other products of this couture collection. The texture seems to be more firm than other MAC l/s that I have, but the firmer grip makes it easier to apply an even layer in one swipe w/o adding too much product as it happens with more creamier formulas, e.g. Secret Lover l/s. For me, it is a perfect nude that can be equally worn by any gender who features a lighter complexion. I'm hesitant to comment on how long it last on the lips as this can be very subjective. Having said that, the l/s is light enough to carry it around and re-apply it when desired.

The packaging feels heavy and more luxurious, though the tube is more prone to finger prints, which however, can be easily removed. As in Elude, the heavyness of the product adds to the luxury touch that you get from GP. It's a great product and despite the higher price point, I believe it is worth the money if you are attracted to a new l/s formula and a signature design.

does anyone feel that they wouldn't wan't to wear their makeup so light...
I have never really been the type of person to be totally fashion forward (probably a lil scared!!) But I hate nothing more than a pale face... on the same note I hate orange too but you can get a nice mix...

dunno just feel my face looks skinnier when it is lighter..............

I dont think this would ever be a craze I would rock!

I usually use the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF 15 in Petting Pink or the clear one. It provides the right amount of moisture and locks it in w/o being too greasy. I also like the one in the tube, but it's too greasy (Vaseline-based) to work under a lipstick.

i just received my Fervent lipstick. The color is just as I expected it to be and the texture of the lipstick is actually way better than what i expected. I thought it was going to be a mess since i know Liba and i think temptalia too hated the application of this lipstick. But I was able to put it on straight from the tube, no patchiness just a smooth application of color. Maybe i got lucky? lol

It all depends how lightly you apply it if you go for an all-over look. A few swipes are enough to brighten a complexion w/o altering the color of your natural skin.

You also have the option of using Elude as a highlighter only, one that is semi-matte with a slight sheen as supposed to the regular highlighters that are mostly glittery or on the verge of adding too much shimmer.

I sincerely hope that this formula becomes a perm product. It glides on my lips like butter.

omg i hope so too. im still playing with the lipstick trying different glosses on top and things like that but alone it looks great. this is my first "vampy" color. I had to look at the bottom of it because I forgot what finish it had. It feels a lot creamier than a Satin finish but it stays in place on the lips like a satin lol

Check out the MAC Shaping Pro Palette in Emphasize, Accentuate, Lightsweep, Warm Light, and Soft Focus, which are all matte highlighters.

Just back from shopping. I picked up the two lip glosses. These were my top two picks from the collection. I swatched the nude lipstick on my hand but I just didn't think it would work for me. I should have tried it on though. The darker color was nice but I knew I would never wear it. I'm still considering the pigments and the nail polishes. Loved the blue one. No they are not super unique but I'm a nail polish junkie. I did think the brush seemed wider then the regular Mac ones but I could be mistaken since I don't buy too many Mac polishes. I also picked up a 4 pan and a 15 pan! Yay! I thought I had to go to the Pro store for the 15 pan but I saw it in the drawer when the SA was looking for the 4 pan. I agree with Mac-Guy that the silvery pigment was sort of neutral. I tried it next to the Holiday pigments that were similar and all of them seemed much brighter and more metallic than the Gareth Pugh one. BTW I bought a 4 pan to house my 4 Mac Me Over eye shadows. I have another 4 pan with Vex and Club in it (I had these 2 long ago and just repurchased them last week). Any ideas of 2 shadows to finish the quad? I also bought She-Zam lipgloss.

Oh and there were no Metal X in sight. I didn't ask the SA about them though.

Mac Fervent Lipstick

Mac Fervent Lipstick + Victorias Secret Embrace Lipgloss (sheer beige with shimmer)

I applied the lipstick straight from the tube, and just used the pointy part of the lipstick to clean the edges

It's just another way to sculpt and shape your face. It's easier to do it with a matte shade (and then add shimmer if desired).

Oh wow.. im away from the site for 1 day and I come back to the joys of Mac Guys reviews. The review you have done on elude and restrict are wonderful, and its soooo good to see finally some information on the brush. Mine is on its way from Canada so I will have that little pretty in 2 weeks, perfect timing for a perfect face for xmas parties.

Elude just sounds to die for and pretty much creates the look im always looking for. I dont use bronzers at all, im pale and i have a few freckles on my face so trying to add more colour to me just looks stupid at times. Im always looking for that pale flawless look and adding colours with bright eyes and applying blush and nude lips. I have only just started to work with blush and highlighters and have a collection of brushes that make practising so much more fun. Mac Guy - how do you think this powder would look on a pale NW20 with freckles? Would u recommend this product over mineralized satinfinish NW20?

Im still learning buffing / good foundation application etc and been watching a heap of you tube videos to get tips, I was enrolled in a school but the course was cancelled for this year due to lack of girls. I dont like my face to look like its caked in makeup so i tend to go for lighter products for my face, which is why i loved the sound of this product from when i read the press release. MSF are also so new to me but im learning and hopefully doing it correct

ugh yer killin me!! But no really, thanks so much Liba and Mac-Guy for all the great reviews and discussion, I was planning on skipping this collection but I think it'd be nearly impossible at this point. I definitely want to try out Elude and Restrict to see if they work on my skintone, it would save me a lot of money if they didn't, but they sound like really gorgeous and interesting products, and Elude sounds like a product that I need to have in my collection (the fact that it photographs so well is a total added bonus! I love photography, and am getting a new camera this Christmas:))

This brings up an interesting point I've been thinking about after living with these products for a few days. This collection doesn't really beat you over the head with its uniqueness just looking at it in the store. In use, though, it's remarkably well edited and cohesive. You can buy every product and wear a full face of all of it and feel perfectly put together, sophisticated and not over-done. On top of it, there's something about the colors for me that feels very "signature", like you have a real statement look, but it's YOUR personal statement, not some fashion person's opinion slathered on top of the real you. That is super difficult to come by, if you ask me, but somehow this collection manages to do it, very much in part to the perfect texture interplay of the products. I feel like I could be one of those glamorous women who wear the exact same makeup every single day permanently for life with Elude, Restrict and the lashes - except I like variety & I'm too much of a chameleon, so it won't happen, but this is the first time I've ever been so tempted to go for that.

Mac-guy & liba-I was just thinking could elude be used for the Kim k style highlighting method ie applied in a triangle shape under the eyes and up onto the cheek bones (not sure if that is the best description!) for a lit from within type effect

I want Deceit pigment!!!!!!! And you all make me want outrage and elude... but I'm still a bit afraid of elude XD Do you think that elude, deceit and outrage could work together? Or would it be too heavy? (but outrage is not that dark since it's sheer, isn't it?)

As we have the same complexion (minus the freckles), I think it will look lovely.

I haven't use the Mineralized Satinfinish in a long time, so I can't really comment on it, but if it is your favorite foundation, then stick to it.
