With the exception of lavender whip and possibly pure decoration, this collection has nothing that interests me. The pearl mattes are off my list now.

So are Pearlmattes just for high lighting? Maybe I don't use it right but I don't like them for some reason. I always skip in every collection

The AG Pearlmattes are my first ones. I have never used them before but I really like VB. I haven't had a chance to try Flatter Me yet

I've heard people use them a variety of ways... As a highlighter, as a blush, as an all over face brightener. I think it just depends on the color of the PM and your skin tone.

emm, this is so NOT what I imagined. Any one else thinking that this won't swatch well? the design looks stiff as if it won't be, you know, buttery. I do need to avoid the foody references in this thread, it is just making me hungry. And yes, I am so glad I didn;t skip Veronica's blush for this. I am not feeling that PM at all
Unfortunately, p/m never swatch well.

I mean it looks like the pattern is stiff and won't give up pigmentation to the brush. Then again, the surface of the Vera p/m's looked kind of stiff too and they give up enough pigment that I use them as blush (although I am admittedly paler than an anemic vampire right now) so maybe it won't be a problem. The little blue leaves are calling me now and I think I can get over the design which I don't care for, all artistic references aside. I get the cake decoration reference now, I just don't like it for some reason--it doesn't appeal to me asthetically. I think the white/cream edge will be interesting and you will be able to swirl the brush selectively to get different combos of the color. I am torn. However, since the design will eventually be dusted off anyway with usage, maybe it isn't that important.

This collection is going to look quite gorgeous and cute but the more I contemplate, the more I think I will pass on much of it b/c pastels just aren't that attractive on me. I prefer more bold color (and neutrals) to pale washed out colors.

Yep! I was thinking they look like Mary Engelbreit roses!
The flowers and leaves on the powder reminds of some of the design elements of Paul Poiret, an haute couturier in France beginning around the turn of the 20th c. and peaking around WWI. His styles were no longer popular after the cultural changes that followed The Great War. His fashion house was dissolved shortly before the stock market crash of 1929 which signaled the beginning of the Great Depression.

I love his fashions. He was phenomenally innovative. Here's a link to a fashion drawing by Paul Iribe, who was popular at the same time, of some Poiret dresses, one of which has flowers that echo those on the compact:

Many of Poiret's design elements and fashions also inspired popular graphic artist Mary Engelbreit's designs - for example:

That's what I thought!
Well, like many artists, she has taken inspiration from those who came before. She has clearly taken much from the textile designs by Paul Poiret's Atelier Martine. I was a fan of Poiret well before i knew about Engelbreit and i immediately thought of Poiret when i saw some of her designs.

He is certainly not her sole influence, and she definitely has molded things into her own style. But much of hers reflects influence from the late teens, '20s, and a bit of the '30s, especially the mid-tone colors of printed fabrics that show up in 1930s quilts and have been reprinted and available today for around a decade - not to mention in Engelbreit's own fabrics. I made a dress using a number of her fabrics (i tend to mix a variety of patterns and/or colors in my dresses). The ones for that dress have a black background and some have those very Poiret-Martine-Engelbreit flowers on them.

Well, I think this narrows my list down to a couple of lipsticks and 3 of the PP Fancy Frosting, Mooncake, Eclair Devils Food and Lav Whip (will be a BU as I adore the original, best MAC purple ever)

I agree, the green leafs are just too big! Are it is just a spray over ... I hope so who want to look green

A little hint of green can actually be a great color corrector for people who want to cover redness in their skin! Obviously you can't use something super pigmented because you don't want to end up looking like the Wicked Witch of the West, but just a little bit of green over those red spots before putting on foundation can work wonders.

The leafs actually look bluer to me than green, which can tone down redness. I just am not feeling the design. More for you guys to love! And, we have not seen the other p/m yet...
