MAC Prep + Prime CC Colour Correct (February 6, 2014)

I went to a MAC store to check these out today.  I have some areas of darkened pigmented areas on my cheeks and above my lips. At the SA's suggestion, I used the orange Recharge cream over the areas.  I buffed it into my skin with the 159 brush, which I thought worked really well to allow layer able coverage.  To my surprise, the discoloration really disappeared using this orange tone. I didn't need much at all.  I didn't want to COVER it like a foundation, just use enough so that it seemed to disappear. I was shocked to see it gone, gone, gone. Just even complexion (with a touch of orange) in the mirror. I used a light bit of the MAC BB cream overall to even out my entire face with the 159 brush. Then I used a a bit of the Adjust pressed powder to set the whole look and add a slight touch of color. The Adjust is a pretty subtle color--it looked like a soft bonne mine effect. I really, really liked the look- it was pretty and glowy. I did get breakthrough glow on my forehead after about 5 hours (not surprisingly, I think the BB is moisturizing?) One thing is that I'm not 100% sure of the longevity of the Recharge CC Cream. Later tonight, I could see a touch of the discoloration showing a bit (although a lot less than usual).  One thing to think about, and play with.  If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts about longevity, please let me know?  I'm NC15.  Also, I tried the Illuminate/purple powder as an all-over color at the store (the SA suggested that I try it that way), and I really disliked it. It was far too cool for my warm skin. No surprise I guess, as Erine1881 and Mac Guy say, only where needed.
I don't believe these have a long wearability claim (according to my paperwork), but the compact is meant to be used for touchups throughout the day. So do keep that in mind for the discolouration breakthrough that you experience.

Hmmm I'm interested in the yellow for redness of acne scars and a little blotchiness. Has any one used it for similar reasons or maybe another brand that might work for that? Any advice ladies? Thanks!

I usually use Clinique's yellow pressed powder for redness, but I'm excited to try the CC, it will be good to have a cream product in my arsenal.

On a normal morning my cheeks are so red -- like I ran a 5k. I bought the yellow cream and it is SUPER. I am so pleased with it. My SA said I could wear it without anything else but I noticed a yellow tinge so added my foundation (C1) then it looked perfect.

I'm looking forward to the neutralizing products and will definitely try them on the pure skin (when my mild rosacea becomes visible). I'm currently covering the red areas with MAC Prep+Prime BB -beauty Balm Compact in medium and it is working quite well.

Before...

After CC Neutralize powder compact

Not a huge difference (I have no foundation on) but when I wear it over foundation it eats the oil in my face all day and keeps the redness down. The difference is subtle but I can see the marks on my face "blurred" out

Orange is the colour you want. The formula is a personal preference, depending on what other products you currently use in your daily makeup routine.

Thanks everyone! I would definitely suggest picking up the Neutralize if you're a fair lady like me prone to redness. I got the compact but am thinking the loose powder would be easier to use. The compact is not as finely milled and soft as I would like (I am used to my powders being smooth like those Hourglass ones!)

I'll do a before/after of the illuminate this week and will post.

Now you have me wanting it! I can see a big difference in your before/after pics. I'm fair and get red blotches easily.
My only concern though is exactly what you mentioned... I'm used to finely milled silky powders like Chanel. Powders like the original MAC P+P or even the Nars Iluminating one feel rough and dry to me, so not sure if I would be happy with this one because I doubt the texture differs much from the regular P+P powder.

Thanks for the helpful information. I'm considering the cream instead of the powders - both the Neutralize & Illuminate.

I've also been thinking about the Adjust if its close in color to the FM beauty powder which makes my skin look flawless. From the swatch it looks like it may be similar?

It would have been nice for MAC to have had an artist do a video showing the use for all four shades.
