I have friends who wear makeup but when I started saving up and buying MAC and my UD Naked2 etc I had one who really looked down on me for spending that kind of money on makeup. It was really awkward.
I've been following this thread & before this I was stalking the Playland thread (I got TA, Live it up x3, lots of laughs x2, carousel & my bf picked out HGL @ the store for me all by himself.. I was so proud of him lol) I decided to join since I'm always lurking around here anyways. This morning when I woke up I bought sunset beach & ocean city.. 2 separate orders because at first I had no intention of getting both lol. I've tried to do my homework online but ocean city looks different in every pic so I hope I'll be able to wear it. Happy to finally be a member looking forward to all your swatches!

So I prob won't be getting them or prob just one pair to see how they really like? I don't support fakes. But it's so tempting to get just one pair to see if they are the real thing ... But I woke up dreaming of these

It's not even about being "beautiful", that's a side benefit, it's about colors and textures and art and transformation. I wish they could forget about societal expectations and just see it for the play that it really is, not too much difference between me and a kindergartner getting a new box of crayons lol

I'm in dilemma with Chanel I love this color connection but sunnies should be timeless and these are mainly for summer (that's why limited)
My response to that is that I look at my makeup purchases as health care spending. Being able to create certain looks with makeup I really like makes me happy. And being happy makes me a better friend, daughter, sister, wife, etc. I study harder at school, I work harder, I'm more likely to go to my workout. It's no different than spending money on a fishing trip or a new video game or whatever it is that makes different people happy. If you spend so much money that you're stressed out about finances, then it's having the opposite effect and you need to cut back. But little presents for yourself to make you happy are important
Like my husband may not understand why I jump up and down when a lipstick comes in the mail, but I'm sure he enjoys me being in a good mood all day lol I think friends who get condescending are just confused. Like they don't understand why you do something and they don't really know why it bothers them. I'm sure she just wishes she had makeup like that too, in fact, she'll probably see how much you like it and come around, maybe even say sorry (we can hope right?) Like my family doesn't like makeup, but they get why I do, so they're cool with it. Oh and brands like MAC and UD are investments. It's better makeup and it will last longer and have more pigmentation (making it last even LONGER). So in the long run you're not REALLY spending more. If you buy a bad lipstick and have to reapply it twenty times a day, you should have saved money and bought the MAC lipstick that stays on for 7 hours and never goes bad! SOMETIMES the cheap option is the better option, but not when we're talking MAC lipsticks or the UD naked palettes!
