MAC quads or 15 palette?

Hi, I have roughly 10-13 MAC eyeshadows or so for now and I'm thinking about depotting at least a few of them except the ones that is already in pans. So my question is now, is it better to just get the big 15 eyeshadow palette and have everything in it or is it better to have ready-quads (two or three maximum) since they are smaller and easier(?) to carry one in my purse or with me abroad or to a wedding or something when you don't want the big palette. I'm really torn between these two so now I ask you guys here for some advice. Btw, I hope the eyeshadows won't fall out of the palettes if I depot them??

Thanks

I would go with the quads since you don't have that many eyeshadows, they're a lot more practical.
When you depot them you have to adhere a little magnet to the bottom of the pans for them to not fall out.

I think it depends on what your needs are, especially if you plan on growing your collection. I keep mine in the large duo palette but that is mainly for storage or doing makeup at home and I am slowly adding to it. But, I do also have a couple empty quads which I use for travel. I pick out the ones I want, pop them in there and I am good to go. The quads really come in handy

oh I never thought about that to maybe have the 15 insert palette and an extra empty quad palette for travel instead. I do like the big overview on the 15 palette towards having 3 quads at home though.. hmm maybe I go for that instead I have to think about it. is it sure that you need a magnet or isn't is "magnetic" enough to just pop in the palette after depotting? I have read and seen different variations of that with and without magnets or equal after depotting.. some blogs say it will be just fine in the palette and others not I'm so confused. I have not started depotting yet because I have not decided upon which palette/s I want so..

and I'm probably going to buy at least two more that I have on my wish list but at least I will buy them directly in a pan if they are available for that

If you depot, you'll definitely need magnets. (Even more so if you don't buy an eyeshadow insert.) If you're okay with not having your eyeshadows in a MAC palette, and you don't want to deal with magnets, go with a Z Palette. (A large one will hold 27 standard MAC size eyeshadows. Extra large holds 35. A small square one will hold nine.)

excuse me for asking but what is eyeshadow insert? :) I'm fairly new to MAC's eyeshadow game..

I mean, I want the 15 palette with the inserts?? oh I just saw on MACs american website that they sell the inserts alone.. that's not the case in sweden where I'm from and buying MAC :) they only have the complete palettes or empty z-palettes. so if I order the palette that has the inserts included (like they have here all-in-one) will it work without magnets then?

You'll still need magnets. A shadow will fit in the insert without a magnet, but you will need it if you want it to stay put. So if you want to avoid using magnets altogether, go with a Z Palette.

thanks! :) do you still need little magnets for those that I've already bought in a ready (refill) pan?

and my last question is, is it the same if I put a depotted shadow in the quads as well? do I still need magnet tape or something although it is already "finished and ready" for use. so basically it's only the refill pans (eyeshadow or blush) that are ready to be put in any type of insert with the pro palette? :)

Yup...It is the same with the quads needing the magnetic tape in the back of the depotted eyeshadows.

1. Charcoal brown
2. Wedge
3. Artistic license (LE)
4. Haux
5. Quarry
6. Malt
7. Omega
8. Copperplate
9. Satin taupe
10. Soft brown
11. Sketch

any eyeshadows that could go with these for brown eyes with green in them?

I think I want maybe one brownish color and at least one good golden color since my eyes pop in them but something that mostly goes for everyday (neutral) since I tend to wear them most :D

I second that. You can check out Bronze as well. Amber Lights is fantastic if you are looking for a gold colour.

thanks :) I will check them all out for sure.

btw, does the quad palette have a removable insert or is it glued to the bottom?

The quad is comes with the insert. It is removable. All you have to do is press the corners at the bottom or at the top and it will pop out. It takes a bit of doing but it comes out.

thank you so much!! that is really helpful. I think I will order the single large palette for my eyeshadows and have an extra quad for vacays, short visits out of town and stuff :) I do like the 15 insert for eyeshadows as home since you will have a better overview of all the shadows instead of having them in different quads
