ive been searching for one of these for a while, but keep ending up with sparkly stuff. any recommendations?

ive never used a primer before. ive heard good things about fix+ and the smashbox one. i dunno, i guess the idea of having another layer of something on my face just doesn't sound appealing. do they work? is it worth it? do they feel heavy on skin? TIA
