I've had dark-ish hair since January and I'm ready for an inverted fall change! (seeing as most people go lighter for summer and vice-versa.. lol, yeah).

I really want to be dirty blond, or at least along the lines of Sarah Roemer's color: http://z.about.com/d/horror/1/0/U/q/...roemer_500.jpg

And seeing as this is me (old pictures by several months)..

Do you think I could pull it off?

I'm not sure how I'd do it in one 'sitting', though, which leads me to my second question: How could I with box dye? Start with chunky highlights or otherwise..?

Just any suggestions, your opinions or for/against comments are fine with me.

i think you should go for it!
The picture you posted looks like she has really heavy highlights towards the bottom and only a few small ones towards the top.
You could achieve this with a highlighting kit but when going blonde it may be better just to see a professional.

Cool, thanks for responding~ ^^
I agree with you, now that I look at it again. I'll just have to mess around with techniques of highlighting that will work for me.
I got everything I needed from my local Sally's earlier today. The stuff I picked out is a little risky to be messing with (not just box dye this time), but I've been dying/highlighting/doing anything you can imagine with my hair for years~ xD We'll see how it works out. Maybe I'll post after pictures ^^;

You could so do it. But I have to say that first pic of you is so pretty. I like the second one too with your hair straight. But something about the first one with the layers of waves that makes you glow. Your hair color is beautiful on you and makes your skin look so pretty. But I totally understand wanting change things up, God knows I play with my hair color. I'm almost 45 (Oh God next week) and every time I go in for touch-ups or whatever I tell my stylist to change it up in some way, even if it's just a little. You are young and beautiful so you have even more room to play with colors. Here are a couple of looks that i think would be so cool on you--If you want go to this site http://www.salonfxspa.com/ and click on photo gallery in the upper left and a new window will pop up and at the bottom put your mouse at the right to make the model pics roll by, click on I think it's numbers 22 & 23 the model names are Jennife and Yesmine and look at how they placed these colors in. My daughter who is 18 has hair color about the same as yours and she was looking for a change and I showed her these. She really liked them but then she chickened out. At her age I would have totally gone for it. OK, sorry to blab on. But I thought you might want to look at these for other ideas. Have fun.

IMO, you're going to need to bleach your hair to get that color since you do have a dark brown color, and that's not something I'd personally suggest someone to do themselves, at home, if you don't have experience with bleaching hair.

It's a common misconception that someone can just add pigment (or dye) their hair blond, but the problem with that is that dark hair won't take to the lighter pigment- obviously the darker pigment naturally found in your hair won't just turn light because it's being added, you know? You have to remove the dark from your hair with bleach, but if it's done wrong (left on too long, it's too strong, etc.) you can do some awful damage to your hair.

I'd definitely recommend that you seek out a stylist's advice at least before you try it. Better safe than sorry, you know?

I do, though, think the color would be gorgeous on you!
