I love this lipstick to death. Originally I went in with the idea of 'Right, gonna buy GAT!' because I saw a girl on another forum post pics and it looked totally gorgeous on her. Then I saw Impassioned, and it became a hard choice... And then the MA showed me her favourite, which was Lady Danger. Obviously not pink at all, but still in the category of BRIGHT AND AWESOME. I think I will have to go back to pick up those two l/s. They are sooo pretty. On to the pictures-
A few people in class + the tutor commented on how 'pretty' I looked today. It was a 'yeeey' moment. Who doesn't love compliments?

Okay, so now it's time for some school pics. Yesterday was our first day doing make up on male models (other than the guys in class, whom we just do womens make up on anyway- believe me, they don't mind). It's for TV Presenters specifically, so we have to make it quite thick compared to everyday mu. Everything has to be emphasised so much because the lights just kill everything and make you look really flat. You can't tell from the pics, as they were taken with one hella bright key light right in his face, but there was mega contouring, 'male' blusher (only on apples of cheeks, done with a bronzer) and eyebrow darkening going on in the 'After' shots.
What I Used:
RCMA foundation in KO3 and KO7 (he's naturally a KO3, but you have to go slightly darker for tv- so says the tutor), Kryolan Dermacolour concealer in D4 and DFD to conceal, D4 alone to counter-shade (eye bags and entire upper lid area- very shadowed because of strong brow ridge), Kryolan eyeshadow in Sunlit/Sunlight as the main contour (Tan colour) and also used on eyebrows as they are almost invisible under strong lighting, Kryolan dark blue brown eyeshadow as a secondary contour to make it a bit deeper, Simply Gorgeous bronzer and loose powder in light.
I think that's everything. I actually forgot to take a before picture, so this is after he's taken it off (except for eyebrows, which he forgot):
Before (keep in mind, this light is super yellow- the gel cover thingies to make the light bluer/whiter were locked in the studio and someone lost the key):
After:
^ After messing with the settings on my camera to get a bluer filter. I don't know what I did...
Male make up is just really weird to do. Kiwi men are typically the tough guy type, and most presenters want to look really natural (but good), so you have to keep a lot of their natural skin tone showing through- Kelly (my wonderful boyfriend and model!) has a lot of redness in the cheek and mouth area, and after doing women's make up I just wanted to conceal the hell out of it. I did tone it down A LOT because on camera it was really insanely bright, but still left a lot of it in there so people who saw him on tv wouldn't go 'Wow, he looks really made up'. There's so much more involved in mens make up than I thought...
Just For Fun FOTD
Today we were allowed to pretty much mess around for 45 minutes after doing lighting stuff, and Sarah and I decided to play around a bit. She had her fface stuff on hand, and as the RCMA stuff we use in class is quite thick she wanted me to use hers
What I Used:
Face: MAC StudioFix Fluid SPF15 in NC35 (I think), Kryolan Dermacolour in DFD to conceal, in D4 and DFD mixed to countershade a bit around her eye bags, MAC Sculpt/Shape in... God, I don't know what colours they were, but I used the darker one to contour, MSF Natural in Medium (I think, could have been Medium-Dark).
Eyes (This was all school stock): Ben Nye creamy platinum colour to highlight, Ben Nye loose shimmery pigment stuff in icy blue over inner half of lid, this brand just said 'Make Up' purple and dark blue eyeshadows in outer 1/3, Ben Nye glittery black eyeshadow in outermost corners, some black pencil eyeliner from class on upper lashline- she put it on her waterline I wasn't going to do that :|, Kryolan mascara
Lips: Ben Nye lipliner in Salsa, Kryolan lip colours in LC144 (neutral browny colour) and LP662 (light pink).
I found it a real challenge to do Sarah's eyes, mine are huge and I have heaps of space to work with, whereas hers are quite deep set and a completely different shape. It was fun, though, and she went into town with it on which means it couldn't have been too bad.
Thanks everyone for being awesome and checking this thread out. For MUAs: I'd really love some crit. on what I could do better on Kelly's (keep in mind, it's for TV presenters >.<) and Sarah's make ups. Sorry there's so many words O_O
