Am I too old to work for MAC?

I'm 36, I wouldn't say I look 36 possibly late 20's most people tell me especially when all done up.

I am just curious because I don't think I've ever noticed anyone around my age working at a Mac counter.

There is a MAC in my area that is hiring temp pt and ft for xmas. I work freelance privately but its kind of going nowhere so I thought I would break into a counter or store and get more experience behind me.

At the moment I work pt in an office but I hate it so I want to do MU full time.

Not sure if I should call the recruitment line or just call the counter directly or even just go in there in person one afternoon and drop off my resume

you are not to old!! i have co-workers older than you working at our counter ... yesterday a woman did a demo and she had to have been 40 plus, but we liked her because she was fun and funky, and she would appeal to older women for sure! its all about a good dynamic!

Girl, No way are you too old!! Plus, if this were true, it would certainly go against MAC's motto, eh??!

Besides, at the counter I do go to (I usually just order my stuff on line or hit up the CCO) there's this one woman who is in her late 30's... she's gorgeous, super sweet and knowledgeable and always friendly/willing to help. I purposefully look for her each time I am there.

I say def go for it. And 36 is not too old for anything!!

Sigh! It would be nice to go to a MAC store and see someone older than 25, actually. Go for it, I say.

You're never too old to do something you're good at, especially if you love doing it. I guess because I'm older now, I really don't like to hear people get down on things because of age. Now, don't get me wrong.....I'm not condoning a 40 year-old woman wearing get-it-girl shorts or even having them in her wardrobe, no matter how fierce her legs are. But, no one ever said your life stops being fun at 30, so DO YOU!

OMGosh... NOT too old at all!! The adverage age of a MAC costumer is around 38!! You should apply to freelance for the holidays... you will be able to see if YOU feel that you are a good fit! Go for it... you will make great money over the holidays... be busy and have lots of fun!!

i say go for it!!! i am 38 and want to go to school to get my license to be a MA. go for it!!! there are ladies at the MAC store in Tower City in Cleveland Ohio that are about my age or just a bit older maybe that are super sexy and very knowledgeable. i think based on what you have said you might regret not doing it versus doing it!!!!

haha seriously, i agree with everyone else. there's this one lady who's got to be at least in her 50s working at my nearest f/s store. she looks older but i don't want to make it sound mean in case she isn't. definitely go for it!

I appreciate it.

I don't believe you ever too old to do what you want but sometimes I feel this country is more ageist then the US, or maybe I am just overly sensitive.

I think I will do my self up really nicely and go in there, in person with resume in hand and hope for the best.

There is another skincare/body/beauty store that offered me an interview next week and they do have mu but I have the feeling it will be more pushing the body products and less makeup selling/makeovers so I am uber eager to see if I can at least get an interview with Mac since they need people for the holidays.

I've seen ppl who look 30'ish working ... And they're more laid back and cool for me... On weekends when the young'ns work, it's too much for me...
