Baby Shower gifts

So my brother and his girlfriend are having a baby in November, and I have been to baby showers before. I already have all the baby's stuff ready, but I was wondering if you new moms ever received anything for you at the shower.

I just thought maybe it'd be a nice idea. I've heard people joke about not getting anything for themselves, but I was just wondering if you guys actually did receive something for you? If you haven't, then would you like to?

I don't want it to be something totally random...so maybe some ideas? Thanks a lot

I am sure she would appreciate a gift basket. I usually fill a foot bath with Epsom salts, foot creams, comfy socks, etc. Pregnant women often have swollen feet.

I think it is sweet of you to think of her.

I've been to 2 baby showers in the last couple of months. The first one, the mother bought her daughter a nice comfy outfit to wear. The second one was for my friend & I made her a little book for the baby & had everyone at the shower put a few warm wishes for the mother & baby. I know that it was mostly for the baby, but until that baby can read...it's for the mothers benefit

I'll be having a couple of baby showers (work & family/friends), and I'd be so grateful to get something personal for me...Even if it were a faux little coupon for my friends to baby-sit so my hubby and I could get out of the house or bath & body works products...whatever. Something that lets me know that even though I'm bringing a little person into the world that needs a ton of stuff that I'm not completely forgotten.

i went to a baby shower for a colleague recently, and the baby's mom received a free massage package. I thought that was a really good idea because pregnant mom tend to have sore backs and swollen hands and feet. She also got a bunch of classical music CDs (the mom loves classical music), so that's a sweet present for the mom and the baby.

Gifts that are "just for mum" are SO special!! I had never been given a gift for me wth any of my babies until my little girl Chenoa came along (she is 7 months old now

) Anyway, a very dear friend of mine who lives way out of state send me a gorgeous gift for my baby girl, and hidden inside the parcel was a gift for me - a beautiful white opal pendant!! It was so nice of her to think of me and I treasure it in my heart. The simplest gift is the one of thought, and with so much hype about the baby mum often gets overlooked.

Some of things that are great for mums-to-be and new mums are -
-frocher you read my mind - feet treats are awesome!!! peppermint foot rubs and creams, big -soft comfy socks, or even a portable foot spa she can use at home are excellent ideas
-spa or bath pack - some of the bigger commercial companies like Avent and TBS make these sorts of things, or have one custom made
-give her a gift certificate to a day spa or massage so she can be pampered for a few hours
-her fav music/cd
-shout her out to a private lunch - just give her a card telling her where to be and spoil her for a while

-simple jewellery like a charm for her bracelet are also super sweet and very personalised gifts that she will never forget!

I am not a mom, but a gave a pregnant mom a shirt that she could wear during and after the pregnancy. She wore that shirt to threads.

For my baby shower, my sister got me a basket with oils, bath stuff, face stuff. She also got me a gift certificate for a spa after Katie was born. It was really sweet of her and I love it.

i never got anything for myself but I got my friend a gift certificate for a massage specifically for pregnant women! they know exactly which areas need special attention - they do an amazing job (so i'm told). i would call around or check out local web sites to see if they specialize in that.

a friend taught my husband how to massage my pregnancy pressure points and i thought it was better than...well you know haha!
