ok so this might should go under recommendations but i wasn't sure? anyways lets get to the point. i have been searching for the perfect medium brown hair color with red undertones (which i sort of naturally have). and i found it! here is a link (and go to picture 8):

i naturally have medium dark brown hair with a teensy bit of red in it but i have to have that color! i would love recommendations on which brands in which color to use (i don't mind doing it myself!)

Is her haircolor lighter than yours now? If so, I would not reccomend doing it at home. Lightening hair at home can be really tricky, especially with medium to dark brown or black hair.

it is just a tad lighter, i really think it is just a little more redish than mine is now. i have no problem doing the color myself but i just don't know which brands are good or which colors. i've used colorsilk and i find that i really like it because it doesn't turn brassy but they don't have the color i'm looking for. any suggestions?

Oh ok that is helpful thank you. I would probably suggest a semi permanant since it won't damage your hair, but it will still add the red. I use Natural instincts and highly reccomend it! I would say the shade cinnamon stick or golden mahogany (depending on how much red you want to add) would be best since it iwll add the red tones you're looking for.
Also, whatever you do, do NOT use Feria by L'Oreal! I have heard by multiple hairstylists this is the WORST possible at home dye to use because it is soo damaging.

Seconded. Natural Instincts is pretty low risk, however, the shades for medium brown hair are pretty dark. Go a shade lighter since it doesn't lift color. You'll get a nice "gloss" that will last a few weeks.

I just colored my hair with Spiced Tea, which looks scary red on the box, but mind you, my natural haircolor is fairly dark. I have dark, natural looking auburn hair now. (Go for an orange or copper base if you want believable red. No one really has burgundy colored hair, and I find the cooler colors wash me out.) Pecan and Spiced Cider are good choices, too.
