Fake 217 from Maccosmetics.com?

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I searched and I didn't find anything.

I just received my 217 brush from maccosmetics.com and I think it could possibly be a fake? Is that possible for it to be fake from maccosmetics.com?

The reasons why I think it is fake is because it says JAPAN, my 266 brush says FRANCE. The brush also smells odd, I'm not sure if this is normal. When I compare the two, the coloring of the 217 handle is a bit off and the bristles come out very easily if pulled. I just noticed the metal part of the handle is shinier than my 266.. Again I'm not sure if that's normal because this is only my second brush. Can someone please tell me if this is real or fake?

Since you purchased it directly from MAC you have a high level of support through them to resolve your question. I would suggest contacting them directly via their customer service phone number about your issue.

It just sounds like you got a bad quality brush. It wouldn't be possible for it to be fake if you ordered from maccosmetics.com - anything that comes directly from MAC is a MAC product. Just contact the customer service department and say that the brush is shedding, discolored, etc.

I doubt it's fake. Some of my brushes say Japan, and some say France. All of them were purchased from MAC.

Sounds like you just got a bad brush. You should definitely write them and let them know that the brush is not of the quality one would expect from a MAC brush.

I happen to notice that I like the quality of the France brushes over the Japan ones. My foundation brushes (190) say USA. Similar quality to Japan brushes. In the future, I'll try to make sure all my new ones are from France.
