Fake or authentic?

Hiya,

I've been stung by fakes a couple of times. A fake brush, which was entirely my fault.... as well as seeing thousands of fakes over in Thailand a few years ago and came out with a nasty reaction to an eyeshadow I got for about $2.

Anyway. Bought a few things on ebay this week for my birthday. Almost all of them are perfect and I have saved the sellers for future reference, however I was just wondering two things.

Has Mac Studio Fix foundation powder been counterfeited? Won some on an auction the other day, hasn't arrived yet but the seller appears to be just a person who bought the wrong shade.

Also I got a couple of e/s in an auction for a pretty good price (£8 for two). One is Trax and looks exactly like all of my other authentic Mac e/s but the other one, Steamy, has the oddest packaging. Like... the lid doesn't quite fit? It won't click down and the e/s packing starts at the normal size at the top but like tapers down?

I've tried looking at it and comparing it to photos on here but I can't seem to find anything like it.

The colour pay-off is good, it doesn't have a brush or any of that stuff and the rest of the indicatiors like the joints at the back and the lettering seem ok.

Have I just got one of their really old packages?

Here's the ebay seller's listing for the Studio Fix

Studio Fix

UPDATE:

Steamy on my cam pics, compared with Trax. On closer inspection it looks like the pot has warped? Just on the one side....

it looks like maybe they tried to depot the Steamy one and maybe that is why the top won't closer properly , it looks just like my Steamy that I have had for 6 years

When I looked closer that's what I reckoned. The seller herself is moving to Oz in 2 weeks and this was the only Mac she had up there. It was 2 e/s and a mascara from Rimmel. I reckon she probably tried to depot but gave up...

It looks like the plastic is just deformed; a manufacturing error or the previous owner tried to depot and messed up the plastic. I have a shadow straight from MAC where the lid never quite fit right, so I just depotted it. Should be fine!

I've been looking at depotting and it looks terrifying to me. Been going through my make up box today as I got a make-up traincase for my birthday this week (my sister knows me way too well, it's a lovely 50s style one, looks really french!)

I need to have a massive clear out and I would love to depot everything into a pallette, but I'm so freaking clumsy I daren't!
