Favorite places online to get unique and avant garde fashion?

I've spent alot of time lately looking for some really over the top, unique, glamorous, out of this world fashion online. I'm sure lots of you out there have your own places you can always go to find a really head turning outfit for less than $500 - where is it? I'd love to know!

i won't go as far as saying avant garde, but i know every time i travel, i try to find the most unique, different place i can pick up treasures i could never find at home. you just gotta think outside of the box, hit up places you'd never hit up before, for example, in a city near me there's a place that does "couture" clothing...meaning it's made-to-order, so it's not like anyone else will ever have the exact same piece.
or, post a listing on craigslist.org (umm, we have this in the bay area, i think it's national, no?) to seek a designer.
