First FOTD- First MAC EVER! Smoky greeeeen

Heyyy. My name is Caty, I'm new here - this is my FIRST POST EVER as you can see! ahaha. I've purchased MAC sporadically in the past, but never paid much attention until recently. I got two eyeshadows from my mom as an Easter present (awesome mom, lol) and let me tell you, it's like a fever. I spent all last night playing with them, looking on here, the lj mac community, and Temptalia for inspiration. I redid my eyes twice this morning to get it just right (keep in mind, I'm new!). I've unnecessarily reapplied my e/s over the day just because I like to. I've been dreaming all day of the other lovely things I will buy from MAC, the massive collection I will eventually own, and the stunning looks I'll create with it.

ALL this, because of TWO eyeshadows. Hahah!

Anyway, the e/s I got were Swimming and Humid. I asked mom for a light shimmery green and a dark shimmery green - good job, mom! haha. I really just absolutely adore them. I think I underestimated the power of Humid, though, 'cause I think I used a bit too much. This is definitely a smoky look and not something I would wear during the day again, but this is a learning process, haha. I still got plenty of compliments though, because I go to high school and it's considered perfectly acceptable to high school girls to wear a smoky eye to school. Oh, the horrors I have seen.

it's too bad today wasn't st.patricks day

my bff commented on how my eyeshadow matched my eyes, and on top of that I was wearing a green shirt! haha

Anyway! Enough of me blabbing. Keep in mind this is my first time with MAC ever pretty much, and I only have two e/s at my disposal! Be nice and constructive criticism is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! FOR REALZ!

ps. please excuse my scraggly-ass eyebrows lol. I'm still working on overcoming my fear of overplucking enough to at least shape those suckers.

Face:
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer
Neutrogena Visibly Even foundation in Softest Gold
Nars Orgasm blush

Eyes:
Humid e/s
Swimming e/s
L'oreal Lineur Intense liquid eyeliner (I think I put eyeshadow on over this lol)
Maybelline Intense Volume XXL (silliest mascara name ever, lol)

Lips:
Nars Schiap lipstick applied verrrry lightly
some random drugstore clear gloss

I plan on going back tonight or tomorrow and purchasing some more e/s ( I only have enough $$$ for 3 though. Oh, the woes of being jobless.) I'd like to get some that would look good with my coloring and that I would be able to use with the two I already have (trying to get the most MAC bang for my buck, ya know?) and at least one shimmery neutral/highlighter. I'm up for anything except blues - I'm not too into blues at this point - and I really like purples and neutrals. Suggestions for good, versatile, flattering e/s to add to my collection?

and one more, sorry! Can you looooovely knowledgeable makeup mavens PLEASE tell me if I am cool toned or warm toned? I cannot for THE LIFE OF ME figure it out and I have tried all the tricks in the book. The look-at-your-arm, the hold-printer-paper-next-to-your-face, etc. I just can't seem to pick out my undertones! I tend to gravitate more towards warm colors, though.

welcome!

the green look is perfect for you!

I'd love to get NARS Schiap lipstick if I can work it like you can.

Thanks, temptasia! I love NARS. I think the key to Schiap is applying it very sheer unless you're going for a very high-fashion look, then it's best to apply a full coat since it's very bright and very matte. I personally think you could rock it!

I really love this look! greens look perfect on you. I know MAC can be very addictive but it's so much fun to play with makeup and be creative and combine colors. Have fun with it!

youve done a great job! swimming and humid are great first purchases esp humid. I think its the perfect dark green in the world! I always get comments when im wearing it and no1 knows where its from lol

oh and, to me, you look like a warm or NW in mac term...or just go to a MAC store and ask an assistant to tell you which tone you are. They'll be happy to help...

I reccomend beauty marked e/s. its black with red sparkles. it sounds odd but so pretty.
shroom as highlighter...its popular and does the trick great. you can also use it as a wash on the lid
the only purple i really like is parfait amour...

c00ki312 - thanks! I really like them too

I actually JUST got back from the MAC counter, haha, and I picked up Shroom, Goldmine, and Nocturnelle. I'm super excited to play with them

and actually I had Beauty Marked a while ago, but it got STOLEN AT A SLUMBER PARTY! :< grrr... hahah. Anyway, I had the MA color match me and I got a sample of select spf in NW15... I'm not sure how much I like the formula, but the color is pretty spot on!

woopsydaissy - haha! What did you get? Isn't it exciting? And that really sucks for the nearest counter being so far away

the closest one to me is about 15 minutes, so I'm lucky. And yayy, high school MAC addicts unite!!

lil one you did a wonderful job. Nice to meet you and I hope I will see more of you around here. Your blending is very good as weel, you are a natural.

You could use a nice purple with your greens and even yellow. Have fun shopping @ MAC. I could be having a bad day and as soon as I make it to MAC my day brightens up.

Good job-you look beautiful in greens!
I love Shroom it is a definite staple in my collection

If you're looking for more neutrals I highly reccomend Woodwinked (which workes great with greens IMO) and Satin Taupe a more 'cool' brown.
for ref I have similar-ish skin colouring to you and hazel eyes. Have fun collecting!

I got Deep Purple pigment. I think it's an old color though. Not sure. But I like it! Hopefully someday I'll live near to one or they will open a counter in my mall. One can only dream... lol
